Jerky with BOV
I'm now boosting higher than the Evo9/JDM mr bov can handle. so im looking into something to replace it. i give the forge bpv a try but wasn't a fan of it. it did drive as smooth as stock.
so... i borrowed my friends bov since he no longer has a turbo car. its the turbo xs rfl and yes they dont disappoint it is Real ****ing Loud. i figured i'd give it a shot to see how the car reacts to a bov. i have no idle problems and its working very well. i'm holding boost better now as well.
now the bad part. when i'm shifting in boost its kind of rough. i press the clutch in and the car jerks forward as its blowing off. is that typical of a bov that has a high spring rate?
should i expect that with every bov? or do i need to turn down the hardness of the spring?
thanks!
p.s. every1 who says bov's make the car stall and are a complete waste were wrong. maybe some cars like them some dont... not sure. i'm assuming the jerking is because its a low end valve.

The VTA is causing a rich condition between shifts. We are not wrong saying VTA BOVs are a complete waste. Just because it doesn't make you stall doesn't mean it's not screwing you up.
You're not a fan of the Forge, because it was not as smooth as stock? Nothing stronger will be as smooth as stock...

i might just stick the stocker even though its not best for holding boost.
Shouldn't flutter like crazy unless you have the old style plain Forge DV - not the new Evo15 or RS. If you make those flutter, then it's because you're trying to boost at part throttle, not because they BOVs are bad.

i had the RS, on the stiffest or softest setting and anything inbetween it was too much. i have a friend with it and he doesn't have the problem. we traded bov's and i still had the problem on my car. the car jsut doesn't like it.

By this you mean the stock CBV can't adequately flow enough air to keep the turbine/ compressor wheels spinning at a high enough rpm in between shifts and when backing out of the throttle. The hole in the valve becomes a restriction, just as a restrictive exhaust.
So wha't you're saying is that you need something with a larger valve diameter?
Try a Greddy Type R valve, has a 47mm valve.
I think the RS has a 40mm valve.

i would never keep this thing on my car. i have a dump pipe on the car right after the turbo. so if you can imagine how loud that is..
the bov can clearly be heard over the exhaust. ridiculous
i'll probably go with a tial. hopefully theyll be coming out with the recirc kit soon.
i just dont want to spend 200+ and be disappointed again.
