Yeah, I agree $6k isn't going to be enough starting from a bone stock car.

Just to add... 780cc injectors minimum, and 272 cams minimum. Alky is an option but not necessary, as is a larger intercooler. No one has mentioned any gauges. FP, EGT, and boost gauge plus mounting will be at least an additional $750 if you go electronic (highly recommended), probably closer to $1K.

Alky and a front mount are optional, but barely...... You'll leave a ton of fun on the table if you don't do these two steps.

If you only have 6K, and only have a 100% STOCK Evo, why not keep the stock turbo for a while. It is VERY capable and I mean it'll run very fast on the stree and you don't have to go nuts with a $3,600 turbo kit plus install plus everything, you really dont need it yet.

Just get Basic mods and cams and then a Tune
I always reccomed Sean Ivey to tune as he is the best I have seen and his numbers are always great.

Learn how to install the basic bolt ons yourself..

The only thing u should have them install is the turbo, cams, clutch everything else is a DIY if you are capable..

Right there is money saved

You put the cart before the horse; you usually do all supporting mods before buying a turbo kit.
The minimum that you will need is:
Turbo Back Exhaust
Fuel Pump
MBC
Injectors
Flash

To get the most out of it:
Intercooler
BOV
CAMS
Meth Injection
Clutch

If I were you I would install all the supporting mods before bolting up the turbo kit. You haven't even felt what a maxed stock turbo setup has to offer.

Yeah, really, if you need more power, why not do stg1 mods and add 50-70whp? That will feel like night and day with only $1500 spent, then go from there. You don't have to add 200whp in one shot just to feel more POWAH!

Why are you doing a turbo swap when you are stock? Is it just me or is this not very smart....

Why not get the supporting mods which will cost you close to 6k... get it tuned and enjoy it. Then if you need more power get the upgrade.

You need a 3" Turbo-back(no cat if possible) an ebay o2 housing, (you can get better intercooler piping/1g bov) 272 cams or so, an intake with filter, boost controller, (you already have a 10.5 hotside so thats good), you can port everything including you stock ex. manifold(but if you really want to do a swap you don't need to do that) You'll need a fuel pump, headstuds, and a TUNE!!! I am probably missing some things but there you go..

Anyhow if that isn't enough power why not do some alky injection, a new intercooler, etc.

By the way you will also need a CLUTCH.... this alone at the bare minimum will cost you 1k+... (going with an act or exedy cheap clutch / flywheel) and getting it installed at buschur for 400 and change)
Basically I say this because I have all of this stuff from ***!!!BUSCHUR!!!*** and I love my car. You can by all means go with AMS because they are great as well... Just have to do a shameless Buschur plug because they along with dynoflash did a great job.

It is nice and responsive and pulls great. Granted its not a 480awhp car, but that is not what I am looking for. Anyhow good luck.

I agree, start small and do the basic bolt on's first, but there will be some duplicate money spent. For instance, if you do a 02 housing or downpipe, and then decide to go with a 50 trim kit, the downpipe and 02 housing will no longer be needed. Same thing if you go with too small of a cam (one ideal for the stock turbo but too small for a 50 trim), lower IC pipe, etc. Just be smart in you mod path.

True, but you can always re-sell those parts to re-coup some costs. Plus, I didn't even put those redundant parts in my cost breakdown initially, so he needs to remember that.

Accept the consult only from someone who knows how Turbotrix deals, not from someone assuming what they do.

My mods:
JUN 264 Cams
JUN Valve Springs
Turbotrix 50trim Kit complete
Injen Intake Pipe with K&N Filter (Do it yourself)
UR Cat Delete and Catback (Do it yourself)
UR Injectors (Do it yourself)
UR Upper IC Pipe with HKS SSQ BOV (Do it yourself)
Reflash
TurboXS FMIC $500 (You can install yourself)
ACT HDSS Clutch Kit $500
Hallman MBC $85 (Do it yourself)

The rest of my mods are for road racing so nothing else in power.
Call Turbotrix, talk to Keith or Mark, and you see how your $6000 are spent the correct way, and not always the ubber expensive mods are the best working ones.

415whp & 378 tq on PUMP GAS 93 octane and 23 psi with the HKS 272 cams, with the JUN's Im yet to hit the dyno. Too much work, and havent been able to.
Search around and you let me know, I dont have to BS you or tell you to buy the extreme things, if you can buy simple things that actually work well. And on the install you can install most of the things since they are bolt ons, clutch & cams, get a professional.

Randy, not sure what all those "uber expensive mod" references were about. No one here suggested anything uber expensive. In fact, most of our suggestions were on the conservative side. The only thing not as conservative is that we are suggesting an actual good clutch for that much power as opposed to an entry level ACT that will not withstand that power for long, especially when racing.

Regardless, the mods you listed above come out to about $7500 _without_ installation, so I really am confused about what you're trying to say. $6k will not get the mods you listed, much less getting them installed, and the resulting power is not much better than a stock turbo on meth for half the price.

Warr:

I sold my stock ported turbo for $400
I sold my lower IC pipe for $150
My custom external dump O2 housing $200
Some other things that got me around $1000 more in cash.
Installation, some of those you can do them yourself.

Clutch install get a pro to do it, and I dont know but my ACT holds my power and torque real good, and I dont do drag, I do 4, 15 minute sessions of Road Racing on a 1.52miles track. But a catback for $800? HELL NO, there are cheaper things out there that are 3 inches all the way if you take the time to search them. PR is a small Island but you can see a lot of different exhausts here, this guy can do the same, check out a lot of evo's with different exhausts and when he sees one that he really likes, but it, you'll be surprised.

TTP Engineering sells a lot of things and at good prices, too bad I didnt know this vendor back when I first bought my EVO.

And Warr, I dont have a clutch sponsor like you or big sponsors like you, all I have is some good old low budget racing with some money saved to make my car a beast
