jeff, kelly williams had some similiar symptoms with his carbonetics carbon twin. his clutch pedal worked just fine, but the clutch would not disengage. the problem he had was that the middle floater cracked and got stuck holding one of the clutch plates against the pressure plate. he was able to drive it, but the only way to get it going was to rev match and clutchless shift. which obviously is not the way you want to drive an evo/

anyway, here are the two problems described here are and how you know which one you have.

1. the throw out bearing ring and belleville washers came loose from the pressure plate. what this would mean is you can not disengage the clutch by pushing in the clutch pedal. however, if that ring comes off, and you push the clutch pedal down, the pedal will NOT return back up. it will stay on the floor. when this happens, it is usually a install problem, not a part failure. but, as an install problem you know right away its not in properly because the clutch will go to the floor and not come back. because you were able to drive 1000 trouble free miles and from the sound of it you pedal still operates fine, i don't think this is the problem.

2. the floater disk is stuck and no longer floating. this problem means your clutch pedal still operates just fine, it goes down and springs back up like usual. however, it doesn't matter where the clutch pedal is, you cannot disengage the clutch. this would be the opposite of a slipping or worn out clutch where regardless of how far out the pedal is, you never get it to hold. how it would get stuck? i have no idea. but just like with DEVO330's carbonetics twin plate, if something goes wrong with the floater (i.e. breaks), then it certainly will not move around.

so in conclusion, if your clutch pedal still works, then i would beleive the problem is the floater. call me and we can sort this out.

cool thanks for the info. i will give you a call around noon when im out of class.
the clutch pedal is still working fine but it has a different feel to it. i assume that the floater would cause this becuase he clutch is still moveable

ok so i went and got a breaker bar to turn my motor over in the passenger wheel well. car was in 5th gear and clutch was in so i turned it over to hope it would pop the metal piece back into place. well that didn't work. i cant get the car into gear when its running so i turned the car off and put it into 1st. turned the car on and it took off. drove and tired to shock the car back like aar said. that didnt work either. so now i think i will get it to kevins somehow to work on it
