6sp transmission case question

When re-installing the transmission back to the block, if there's about 1 1/4 inches left between the bellhousing, and the block, is that safe to assume that the input shaft is in the clutch ?

I have gotten the shaft into the clutch disk from what i can see, but it will not go on any further.. there's just over and inch left to go, and it will not budge.

Anyone got any tips?

6speed trans.

No you cant take the case apart for install. The trick is to swing engine forward to allow easier in and out.

did you use an alignment tool?? If not the clutch disc may not be lined up correctly.

try putting a socket/ratchet on the crank pulley on the other side of the engine and turn it a bit till the splines of the disc and input shaft line up and it should slide on.
