with some kits like mine I couldnt leave them in because a rod made contact with a balance shaft. BUT I'm not running the normal crank that comes in the AMS kit. I upgraded to the Eagle crank that they offer. this is probably why it makes contact.

With what turbo?
If you plan on running a stock 16G or a 20G 9 LT (Green) keep the BS "balance shaft".
If you plan on running a Big Turbo, lose the BS, and be all you can be 9-10K rpm.

You can feel the added vibration without the shafts, but you make more power without them. I've run my 2.3 without balance shafts for 23,000 miles, two road race events, two drag race events, and over 100 dyno pulls. If I had to do it all over again, it would be a coin flip - I do miss the smoothness though.
