Bigger Injectors?

I just got flashed and was told not to use my bigger injectors right now. It would only cause problems with idle and driveability.

what is everyone's experience with this?

Great question....I am showing (using evoscan and mitsulogger) that I am running out of my stock injectors in the high RPM range (6500+)....I notice too that many of the folks in Cali. are running larger injectors with basically stock setups...

My guess is that if you have increased boost on the 9 to 24/ 25 peak and have all the basic supporting mods, that larger fuel injectors may be optimal. I would love to get Buschurs, Vishnu, Al @ Tuning Technologies, AMS, or others to chime in....

stock injectors are fine with the stock turbo. Just get some alky injection and call it a day.

HA! Have you looked at my IDC logs? I am maxing out my injectors from 6500 + and could use them at 6000....So I'd say that on my specific car that injectors are needed...My question is which injectors and size would be best? Thanks

What is your AFR in the area where you say you are out of injector?

11.9 with no knock but IDC > 100%....I have heard that you want IDC to be below 85% ideally....

True, but I would make it a point to plan an injector upgrade around a tuning event. If you're AFR isn't showing signs of going uncontrollably lean (which isn't happening), I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Also, be advised that it matters not how much boost one runs in the midrange, because proper injector capacity is determined by peak hp.

Ted -- I am having a custom tune on March 10th (Jestr), which injectors would you recommend (size and brand)? Thanks a ton!

I recommend sizing the injectors for the turbo one plans to keep permanently on the car. For stock and closely sized turbos, 650s are fine.

As far as brand/type, I prefer the ball type Delphi injectors as sold by FIC and Precision.

What would you recommend for the FP EvoGREEN (47 lb/min) running Water/Meth injection at 28-31 psi for AutoX competition and occasional street use? Would RC 800 cc injectors be enough? Thanks.

A tuned evo IX IDC is about 90-95%. A set of 720's would drop the IDC considerably, and would add about 8whp with fuel tuning. I'm getting a set as I'm utilizing every single power mod to max out the stock turbo and want to have more than enough fuel for a bigger margin of safety. Its worth the $400 if you ask me.

Would 800s be enough? For your setup, even 650s would be enough.

... ...FP strongly recommends a minimum of 680 cc injectors with the EvoGREEN turbo on an otherwise stock setup (+ 3" downpipe and 280 Ex. cam.) Buschur suggests even more.

Sorry if I wasn't more detailed before. With your past comments on cam setup and turbo selection maybe you can help. I'm also thinking of using one of these two cam kits... Focusing on moderate duration but high valve lift.

With that in mind can you advise on the following:
1) Which of these cam kits would be most suitable for the FP EvoGREEN with stock valves and
"gasket-matched" head porting plus 3" exhaust system. (Alternative cam suggestions also welcomed.)
2) The suitability of 800cc injectors (RC Engineering) if used for this setup?

Thanks.
