Transfer case???

Ok so I've been reading alot in threads that if you hear a whining noise coming from your car it is probably your transfer case going out. Well....my car makes a slight wining noise, not really loud, and mostly just in 3rd and 4th gear. I just got a clutch/flywheel installed and im pretty sure they used the right t-case fluid. Do you think this is my t-case going out or is this just normal?

More meat in the potatos please! Mine blew out 200 miles after a clutch job. go get on it, and see if it gets louder about 70-80, in boost.

some gear noise/whine is normal. The "death whine" most people talk about of a bad ring/pinion (commonly called a bad t-case) occurs at freeway speeds. If it is gear dependent and not speed dependent, it's probably just normal gear whine. If it's speed dependent, it's probably the ring/pinion.

FWIW, mine went after a clutch install as well. Started to whine in 3rd and 4th and got fairly loud up top in the RPM's.

my TC started to whine a month after doing my clutch....my fault..didn't put the oem fluid in it. Live and learn...i'm still riding with a whining TC ...don't launch the car, don't feel the urge like i used to before changing the clutch.

yes, but the whine will be unmistakable...... loud as hell, and you will without a doubt know something isn't right
