The filter we use for our kits we also offer in a standard 3" inlet too. I use the exact same filter on my RS, the car ran 9.97 at 142 mph. The filter works!

I am going to use a one off cf airbox made by FORGE....I thank DRFTKNNG for it because I got it from him. It is beautiful.....basically looks like the Kansai box with Dzeus fasteners instead of screws

I apologize for bring up an old topic, but I was searching about cone filters and tunes. I have the Buschur coner filter kit, and it has been sitting waiting for me to get my Buschur TBE so I can get a tune all at once because from what I understood before I read this statement was any intake or cone filter of any sort needs a tune because it mess's with MAF readings.

So is the Buschur somehow specifically desgined to not mess with the MAF settings? I'll go throw it on right now if thats the case.....

Would modifying the stock air box or the the HKS Kansai box by cutting a bigger hole for the cone/pipe to fit inside the airbox take away from it's performance? This is what Im thinking of doing to somewhat isolate the filter from heat, have a snorkel directed to it, and still have a cone filter at the end.

Do cone filters work better on an open engine bay?

I had one on my Evo 9 and I loved it. It was a great performance part for the price, fits well, makes power and is cheap.

I have the red and a grey buschur filter. This is IMO the best filter for making power and needs no adapter like most filters which can cause a disturbance in the intake tube. I no longer use the filter for DD because I noticed some dust in the intake(much less than the hks filter I had) and am worried about long term use causing some wear to the engine. But for night runs, weekends and track use, I swap my box for db's filter in about 5 min. A+ product and for the price, you can use this along with a Monster-sport panel filter for less than the cost of a lot of cone filters out there.

You can slap the filter on and will have no problem with your tune using the stock intake. The maf frequencies will be off at times because there is no air box protecting the maf from the air disturbances under the hood. But, re-tune after adding parts and always use a wideband if your not running stock to be safe.

I like it. I felt an improvement in spool time. If you like to hear the turbo this is the mod for you.

I just put it on for the hell of it, but won't do much driving until I have a real definate answer about a tune and the statement about the Apexi/Buschur filters.

I must say though, spool time got better and I feel like a ricer with the increased BOV sounds, heh. I may put my stock back on until I get me TBE and flash though, which should be beginning of Octoberish....

The filter design with the funnel on the end is mostly responsible for the smooth airflow through the MAF and the good drivability/tunability.

This is why I purchased the APEXi intake filter. I am keeping the stock Intake Snorkle to keep the MAF happy.
