cone filter getting wet??

i took out the air box and put in an aem dry flow cone filter.. the 3x5 one..

i have yet to get a heat shield.. so if i wash my car or if it rains.. will the cone filter get wet due to the vent opening on hood??

The answer would be YES. I wouldn't wash my car if the shield is not there. I refuse to drive w/out it. Even with the shield, I still worry If you can fabricate something to cover the cone filter, It would be ok except I'd be worry about the eletrical connections inside there though.

By the way, is this a VIII/IX or an X???

i dont see how the electricals would matter.. the vents on hood are stock.. the only thing that changed is that the cone is not in a box like the stock..

the approximate position of the vent is about 4 inches ahead of the cone when the hook is closed

i washed the car today.. so i put a rag on the intake snorkel and the cone.. the rag got pretty wet.. but i can see how the water is funnel away from the cone towards the front of the car..

i guess maybe thats how it stays dry.. any one with a cone that drive through rain and car washes have any input?

What's the big deal? Do you have any idea how many people on this forum pump H2O into their engines on purpose and for good reason? https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/wa...ction-nos-173/ The filter will dry out, not to worry.
