Honestly, I don't even look at the speedometer anymore when I shift. I just listen to the hum of the engine then I shift. Actually I never really looked at my speedometer, I looked at my tachometer to judge when I should shift. I normally shift between 3.5 and 4k rpms.
I think you're gonna pretty much get the same answer from everybody. If I'm doing some quick acceleration, my eyes don't even know the speedometer is there, only the tach out of my lower peripheral vision

Pay attention at the RPM instead of speed.
I keep the RPM below 3000 for the first 1000miles
1000~2000miles:
below 3500RPM
2000~3000miles:
below 4000RPM
Will start to rev it up after my first oil change.
that's juz how I do.
