Question about purchasing the green

Does anyone know if Forced Performance will do a a core swap on 05 Evo VIII turbos for the FP Evo Green? Will they send you the turbo at discounted amount (say $1200 as a guess) and then you send them your stocker when the green is in? The evo is my only car and I can't afford much downtime ... If they will do this, does anyone know prices etc....Thanks in advance!

look at the bottom at the "exchange" turbos that will help you with no down time.

""From time to time we have these "EXCHANGE" versions of the turbo ready to ship. If you would like to have your "EXCHANGE EVOGreen" turbo prior to removing your old turbo from your car, then you can pay an additional $300 for a "CORE CHARGE" and be able to remove your old turbo and install your EVOGreen at the same time. Then send the "CORE" back for credit!""

Thanks for the info guys...I will do it through FP because they recredit your credit card...not give you store credit which I could care less about. Plus I would guess since FP are the proprietors of this turbo and are almost strictly turbo builders, they will definitley have some on hand. Thanks again!

Um, nope, none on hand, at least they better not ship any out until they fill prior orders(which I'm sure they will), as I paid about a month ago and expect to be getting mine in a week or two. they told me a 3-6 week wait time, so i pre-paid mine to get on the list. It's $1500 shipped(HP actuator, ported manifold, & install kit), then once you send your 05 turbo back you get a $300 credit.

So for $1500 they send you a ported mani, Green and HP actuator? Wow! I have the HP...I wonder if it has to be modded. So you are just going to send them your unported manifold back along with the turbo if I understand this right.

If you have a HP VIII actuator, then you still have to buy a new one if you want a HP actuator on the FP Green because it uses an IX actuator, which is different.

Also, if you upgrade an VIII, you keep your smaller VIII compressor housing and will not get 100% of what the true FP Green is capable of.

I am fairly positive that if you send in an VIII to be upgraded to FPGreen specs, you'll get back a fullhouse FPGreen sporting a completely upgraded coldside including not only the 5-blade 20g wheel, but the IX compressor housing as well.

Arguably, the only scenario that might result in a potentially wimpier turbo would be if you were to send them an '03 9.8 hotsided 16G, in which case you would get back an FPGreen with the larger turbine wheel stuffed inside your old 9.8 hotside.

Look, I suspect that even if you were to send in your VIII FP HD actuator, they could just transfer the solenoid onto the different IX solenoid mounting bracket and swap the actuator rod/turnbuckle for a longer one, and you'd be ready to go. Of course I'm just guessing so's you'd best give them a call.
