6 spd upgrade
6 spd upgrade
does anyone do upgrades on the 6spd? checked some web sites and googled but couldn't come up with anything.
i know the 6's are supposed to be weaker, but i really prefer the drive of the 6 over the 5 speed.
so if anyone knows of who will upgrade the 6spd tranny's please let me know
thanks

This topic has been discussed a bunch, 1-3 on the six aren't weaker, its 4-6 that are. As far as i've seen there isn't an upgrade for that but hopefully someday before i blow mine up there will be! All in all if mine goes this year i'll be switching to a 5.
hey warr, is there any reason that you switched to a 5 sp?i was just wondering what benefits it gave you or what you were looking for out of the switch. thanks ahead of time.your help is always greatly appreciated.

I love my 6spd, i dont have the money to race every event nor do i really care to race. so for me the 6 spd is great i only drive my car on the weekend anyhow.

Yes, he does. Warr stripped the teeth off of 4th while accellerating on a road course. He switched to a 5-speed so he can road race without worrying about stripping 4th again (the most common gear to fail in a 6 speed)
I think it's because 5-Speed Evos are slightly faster in the quarter mile, because there is one less gear to shift through. The 5-speed transmission is also more durable. However, for daily driving it's nice to have an extra gear to work with.
This is just my guess, so please don't flame me Warrtalon if I'm wrong

The benifit is that the 5 speed will not break as easy as the 6 in those extreme heat conditions. The 6 can be just as fast as the 5 in the 1/4 mile if you can shift it right, 4-5 is a toughy though.
again though......... you guys are talking racing conditions,
the guy that started this thread says nothing about racing road or drag.
I had a VIII GSR, which of course is a 5spd, and IMO for a weekend car or even a daily driver, with i would much rather drive the 6spd. even if i did race on occasion.
