ok there is where they advertise the EVO 8 MR turbo I am assuming 2005 model.

I actually bought all this for dirt cheap 400 shipped:

05 EVO 8 MR turbo
10.5 hotside
megan o2 housing
megan exhaust manifold

Im not sure he needs bashing due to the price but you tell me.......
HOLY CRAP!!! SBR actually has an advertisement saying that Mitsu did some "tweaking" and came up with the "Evo MR Turbocharger"??? WTF, yes, that needs to be fixed IMMEDIATELY. They even say, "Ever wonder what makes the Evo VIII MR that much faster?" Uh, the MR is _NOT_ faster. Wow, I'm very disappointed that Mike (Huml) would put something like that out in public on their site. That is all completely false, and not only that, but they're selling it for $1399!!!! A stock 05 turbo for freakin $1400 is unspeakable. A new stock IX turbo is a good bit more powerful and is $700. They're basically calling the 05 turbo the MR turbo without realizing that all 05s got that same turbo and that it's only improvement from 03-04 is the 10.5 hotside.

Yes, $400 for an entire set of used parts that includes an 05 turbo + o2 + manifold is a very good price, but why is the 10.5 hotside listed separately? The hotside is part of the 05 turbo. Are you saying you're getting both an 05 turbo _and_ a 10.5 hotside, which means you'll have two 10.5 hotsides?

I just emailed Mike Huml to have him fix that awful page. Hopefully, he will, because that is terribly misleading...

Well, I guess the problem is you based it off that one page instead of reading the tons of information here where this is explained in detail. Yes, all of that is false. If he were referring to the JDM turbos, then maybe it would closer to being correct, but it never says anything about being JDM, and all the text gives details that exactly match the difference between our 03-04 turbos and our 05 turbos. The 10.5 hotside, the single-flapper oval wastegate, and the modified nozzle...all that stuff is exactly what changed from 04 to 05 on ALL models.

I just wonder how you got to that page to begin with when there's such an amazing amount of info right here saying the opposite.

The metal stock BOV is the JDM MR DV and stock IX DV. You don't already have an upgrade over the plastic stocker? If not, then get either of those - they are the same thing.

Well, the forum is comprised of businesses AND lots of knowledgeable users. If it was just one person saying it, then that's one thing, but when you have an entire forum of mixed people saying the same thing, then you get a better idea...

on another note...

If you want a real turbo upgrade in an Evo shell.....go with the FPEVOGreen turbo....a bit pricy yes, but if you sent it in for a rebuild off an VIII turbo like the one you purchased it will only cost you $1000...and can net you about 400 on pump and 450 on race gas on the right mods...and yes, these are WHP figures....happy tuning!
