Maxing out the stock turbo on pump - need your input on UICP & Stock Intake Box
I am spiking at 26 psi and holding strong until redline using the ECU and modified boost solenoid. I use just straight 93 octane but have been considering Alk or Meth and raising the boost (to 28/29) and the timing to get even more hp / tq.
cij911, if you are able to spike 26psi on pump gas with no knock counts, then IMHO forget about alky. Many guys would be happy to spike 26-27psi on pump/alky. Don't forget that the stock turbo will not be as efficient at 29psi (hot air effect/diminished increases in whp per increase in psi), although boosting that high should give you a nice torque spike...
And here I thought I was pushing it spiking to 24.5 psi on pump 93 in cold weather...
Jestr did a great job with the tune (super smooth and no knocks)....but with 26 psi peak we really had to keep the timing down....I think I could gain quite a bit by adding a few more psi and a lot more timing....I have just seen a bunch of IXs that have dynod ~400 whp with Alk or Meth and thought it would add at least 40 - 50 hp....but maybe I have false expectations

Yeah thats definitely hurting you. There has to be a happy medium between boost/timing. 26psi is WAY too much even to spike on pump gas. I have an incredibly knock resistant car and I cant run that on pump. I spike 25psi usually but hold 23psi throughout most of the powerband before bleeding down to 19psi at around 6800-7000. Youd most likely be faster running more timing and running 23psi.

I dont have my maps accessible right now since my laptop is at work and my car is taken apart.
i trapped 116.4 with a 1.85 60' and ran 11.90. and 116.7 with a 1.82 and ran 11.85.
you need to work on ur shifting, your power is somehow there lol amazing car
cheers!
you should ran close to a 11.7 with decent shifting trapping 118. granted ur lauching wasn't the best. with say a 1.70 launch you would have been in the 11.4-11.5 range.

Yeah my E.T wasnt spectascular because I was spinning into 2nd gear hardcore. It wasnt that warm out and I forgot my tires had almost 34psi in them. I definitely should have went 11.6 with my trap. Oh well!

Soon2be...Is your car an 8 or 9? The timing looks more like an 8...From what I have heard I am running good 9 timing and highly doubt I could ever see 19* at 7K....I did have a tune once that I was able to hit 15 / 16 * but had some knock....
Just to give an update to those that might be interested. I ran with the cover of the stock airbox off this weekend to see if I could handle the noise. Its actually not that bad with the lid off - you only hear the turbo when you are on boost and even than when you go wot, the exhaust overpowers the intake noise. I have been in cars with hks rs intake and they were louder and the noise was 'different' due to the hard pipe kit changing the harmonics. Having said that, I am planning on sticking with the stock box with works drop in for the moment. I might order another top and do the airbox mod and test to see if it makes any more power on the dyno
UICP: As far as the UICP, if I can source a Nisei piping kit, I will go wtih that as it looks superb in construction (much shorter UICP with less bends) while it is also able to keep the stock airbox if need be. I might just get the upper part or try to sell my AMS LICP and get the whole kit.
FMIC: With regards to FMIC, I still want to get the APS. I PMd couple of members and they all said that you dont have to cut the underpanel for it to fit. It is 40% larger than stock (300-600hp applications) so it should not be too laggy and should provide some extra cooling/power in hotter days. It got great reviews on lancer register. Having said that, I might not be able to source one here. In that case, I might also look in to AMS or HKS
Manifold: Already ordered the FR manifold, so there is no going back there
