CBRD ebay exhaust testing...
You didn't post pics of this "ebay" exhaust, so you never know the quality. The exhaust hangers could rust off later (especially on the east coast). Welds could fail.
Personally, I'd rather pay extra now for quality parts and not have to replace them later down the line. BUT, to each his own.
thanks for posting.

Folks that discredit parts based upon country origin (manufacturing or other), really must have very little experience in global business. The pacific rim has some of the best design and manufacturing process in the world. A 3" (or other diam. exhaust) is about the most basic design / mfg. component on an automobile and could easily be made well in Asia at a fraction of the cost to manufacture it in the USA. Furthermore I find it humorous that a car (inexpensive at that) that is manufactured in Japan should only have an exhaust that is made in the USA, because we build the 'best' 3" pipe (??).
Chad -- What RPM are you hitting peak boost? I too have the Nisei LICP and am hitting boost at 3500 rpm in 3rd gear and used to hit peak at ~3100.....I am wondering if I have an issue (turbo / leak) or if it is just the effects of the LICP. Thanks

nice, thanks for posting the info.
now, if you want to test the Ebay intercooler, I have one on my car.
please post dyno graph when you get a chance

no its not that. im sure a lot of us dont care if the exhaust was made in Africa, as long as it made the most power. the fact is, ebay exhaust are hit or miss. u can get one that fits great or one that doesnt, one that is a full 3" or one that isnt. so u never know what u are getting until u have it. yes they are cheap but there is no customer support there so if something goes wrong u are out $300

Al,
are you going to start a pissing match with me now?
it means i tested a catted exhaust with a non catted exhaust.
but i wanted to atleast show the differences we saw.
without creative marketing.
i think there have been quite a few "questionable" tests on here.

if it were up to me,
i wouldnt use some of the US brands made mentioned quite often, as i dont think they have fantastic quality. Id prefer to use name brand parts that have a good network of support behind them.
now that being said, if my customers want to spend a little less money, and use a part that they think will work, i have no problem testing it, and seeing what happens.
most of my clients dont have their cars long enough to care if they last 5 years or more.
cheers

if you spend some time aligning the bits it makes it easier....
using a lift is nice, hang the downpipe, string the rest together... leave all of the bolts snug, and slowly tighten them to make sure nothing gets pulled around.

Uh oh Chad, I did testing on the ebay FMIC and now you tested the Ebay TBE....we're doomed now =(
Hey Al, imagine if Chad had something to gain from these tests how much more power he would have made!

Thats exactly right. Youre basically taking a gamble by being cheap with getting the "Ebay" exhaust system. You try and "just" spend $300 but what if it doesnt fit or there is another problem. Thats $300 + the money its going to cost to buy a real one!
its interesting that chad is complimenting an exhaust that his client bought off of ebay, when he purchases dc sports and other brands through us. Just goes to show you he is a honest person in these test, unlike some other people. The only problem with the ebay stuff is theres no customer support or anything with it or even any industry backing, or even who knows how it will hold up.

thanks guys.
maybe ill do an ebay group buy, and see if I can make 2 dollars on each one... then theyd really make some more power on my dyno!!!
hee he..
anyway..
pics later and dyno charts, for those that like to constantly gain more information.

Exactly. When you buy a Buschur/AMS/etc... product you are buying the customer service that goes with it. I could care less who makes the part, you could train a monkey to make an exhaust; but what are you going to do if something goes wrong? Telegraph the 10yr old in china that made it for you? Obviously everyone doesn't share the same opinion but I'd rather pay more money upfront and get a part I know is quality then play russian roulette with some of the garbage on ebay.
When buying something like an "exhaust" for $300 what kind of technical support would you need? If there is a broken hanger go and get it fixed.
Tech support would be needed on big order items (cams, turbo-kit, fmic, etc),
There have been posts of many exhaust having issues from different brand names.
(Exhaust not centered and burning bumper on exit, DP not clearing acd without some elbow-grease, hangers sometimes break, etc.)
Good test CBRD, and thanks for doing the comparision.
