Havent been to mitsu dealer, but after 3 days of use i can now feel that the clutch is the problem.
Started to show the effects on lower gears and started to disangaging later nearly at the end of the pedal (or should i say beginning, just before i take my foot of), and this mornin while heating the car at idle, there was a nasty smell too..
Anyway, i talked to the tuner and he advised that we use HKS light complete set which is $1850 (labor inc.), however after talking to mitsu i decided to order a stock clutch ($1000 with labor, flywheel not included).
Because; They told me that, as im not an abuser, i just finished the clutch, as if i did not destroyed or "burned" it, so they think that i dont need to change the flywheel, just the plate and disc. And they are gonna wipe (dont ask me) the dust from the flywheel and trim it to match the new clutch and voila..
As i am planning to use the car max. 5000ish miles more, i think its the best/cost effective solution. And they will give me guarantee about the stock/retrimmed/cleaned flywheel..
What do you think?
ps: dont know the exact translation of the part when i say flywheel, think of it as the most expensive part of the clutch (maybe its the plate
)

I think what they meant was to re- surface the flywheel. Machine it flat or grind it flat if there were any grooves or chatter marks on it from the old clutch.
The stocker will work well if you plan on selling the car in 5000 miles. Just dont abuse it and it will still be good for the next owner.

Our stock clutch is actually not too bad, if you don't drive crazy and are easy on it. I've read some info that alot of the problems is actually on the flywheel overheating and warping. If you are getting a new stock clutch, why don't you get a new flywheel with it also?
I'm actually at 49,000 miles on the stock setup and just this past winter, it started making noise, with the pedal down and not in gear, so I decided, it might be on it's way out. Had a friend drive it and he said it drives perfectly fine and no slipping. It's my daily driver and it's been to a few track days as well.
It sounds like the HKS combo is not too bad considering it comes with the flywheel(?) and labor included. Not sure how much different it would be compared to the stock setup. Do you have any specs on the HKS setup?
btw... I met another Turkish (Istanbul) Evo owner on here, I think his handle is APS, do you know him?? He owns a black Evo, 05 I think.

What i was trying to say with trimming/cleaning the flywheel was exactly what wrcwannabe has said/described, so, thank you..
@rsboy: Man you either very lucky or live on a very flat state with no hills or somethin. 49k stock, that must be the first.
I aint no abuser (drag wise) like i said and havnt been on a trackday
, but with lots of city traffic and the hills (istanbul a.k.a. "city built on 7 hills", think of it as nyc combined with sf) that is all i could get from my clutch, and maybe lots of heal toe and 6500rpm shifts helped..
Anyway, i may sound cheep here but paying $850 more on a set which i will barely use (i mean the extended lifetime wont be used by me), sound a little expensive to me, if i were to use the car 2 years more i sureley get HKS Double or clutchmasters s2 (after searching which is best, price wouldnt matter).
I dont have the specs of HKS but on its site there is one called "Light Action Clutch" , there are some specs, the site is http://www.hksusa.com/categories/?id=3090 if you want to check..
I see lots of evos around but dont know any owner, just met at service but never seen again.
Thaks to the dealers (actually the stupid axx sales manager) ignorance about evo owners (mitsu's most prestigious car and its brand loyal customers), did not have any track day or community. And without the info they have (whos who) its hard to set up a meeting or online community.
Im sure most of the owners are here thoug
