Mods question for you pros

What 1/4 benefit do you think the Evo 8 would gain from the following mods and how much would you anticipate the total cost would be:

1. AMS Evo 8 Downpipe and Cat Back
2. AMS Manual Boost Controller
3. AMS MAF pipe
4. HKS 272/272 Cams

Am I missing anything?

Thanks.

BTW - The above mods are basically the same as posted in an earlier thread. I really don't quite know what these things do but it sure seems to boos hp and torque

To run the cams you really want programmable engine management....an SAFC ain't gonna cut it in our experience.

Those mods with install are about $2800 give or take a few bux.
Without the labor costs for installation, they come out to $1800ish
and that includes a S-AFC II for fuel control, we have not come into
any problems with fuel control with this setup.

Jesus man! I feel like I'm always a half step behind you... I have the same question, but bet the 272s would be fine with a good tune.

I would be very interested in seeing the 264 results on a dyno graph to compare torque curves. In NA applications 264s often offer better drivability (read more low-mid range increases) and the 272s providing better peak performance.

See, it all depends on the customer and their intended level of tune at the end of the day. Unlike the 272/272 combo on a 1 or 2G DSM, they can actually be made to idle on the later Evo's.

But, many people aborad actually do the 272/264 combo and claim it works well, though I have never used it before.

In any event, cams are inbound as we speak (all 272's for right now)..Al...check your email

Will the Greddy kit you mention cost $3800 installed? And is that including every thing needed to safely make 400 hp?
$1800 for the parts plus $1000 to install and tune does not seem too expensive to make the EVO 8 a 12 second car

Add a nice clutch and flywheel combo and that will be the ticket in to the 11's
