Please Help - Radiator Fan Question

Does anyone know under what condition does it take for the radiator fan to come on? I let the car idle for over 15 minutes with coolant temp reaching 200 according to Evoscan and the fan still would not come on. I've powered the fan manually and its not defective. Just need to know if its suppose to come on or not so I can order the little module mounted to the fan shroud. TIA.

There have been problems with the fan control box in the past, but I'm not sure if 05's are effected.

Yes I did. I've also confirmed that it is not the fan motor. Only other possible scenario is the coolant temp has not reach a point where the fan comes on or the fan control module is bad. If anyone knows the coolant temperature at which to trigger the fan to come on, it would be much appreciated.

I called the dealership and according to them my VIN does not show as being one of the recall for the fan module. I guess the only way to find out if that is the culprit is to buy one and hope for the best. Thanks to all who posted.

Is that the case with our Evo? I only let my coolant temp reach 200 before I gave up.

let it warm up to 220degree, but monitor the temp. gauge to make sure the car doesn't over heat. Does your car overheat? Why do you need to know if the fan come on or not?

Well I just got the car back from the bodyshop. The AC condensor was replaced among other things. I went back to get the AC charge because it wasn't cold. After charging, they tested the system and said that there was too much pressure in the AC system after running it at max. Reason being that when you turn on the AC to max, both the condensor and radiator fan should be on to cool the system and relieve some of the build up pressure. Well my condensor fan comes on but my radiator fan didn't and even after idling for over 15 minutes, it still did not come on.

I don't know if what I was told is true so does it make any sense?

A replacement fan control unit will cost around $69. I have a '03 and mine didn't fall under the month for recall. It took a crap on me during an auto x event.
