Which would help more? Intake Manifold or ported head???

I have the AMS 2.3L stroker Engine also with an AMS GT35R turbo kit. Also running the AEM EMS along with an alky kit. I was curious of which one would give me better gains. Aftermarker/ported intake manifold. or a ported head(aftermarket heads are probably out of my price range). And by the way I have searched for this and find it hard to find a clear answer.

I'd like some help from ya'll

Thanks,
John

no need for jun...

ams makes a couple good ones....

but i think over at buschurs theyre big into porting them, last i checked even DB only ported his. and it probably costs him $50 in materials to make... so im thinking porting is probably enough unless its huge power

cheers!

I'm looking to hopefully break 600

Not sure if that'll be possible at my current mods though. So an aftermarket intake manifold would probably help out more than the ported head?

Thanks for ya'lls opinions

the ported head would help more than the intake manifold, guaranteed! that is why buschur can just port out a stock intake mani with his beast but yet his head is built. think about it, if a im is so important than why hasn't buschur come up with one. i believe he said that his ported im increased maybe 15hp. but a ported head makes all your other mods work that much better. i believe the head is your bottleneck right now not your im. besides buschur doesn't charge that much for the ported im, so why don't you just get your head built and get your im ported.

as for the statement above, it is true, it is not necessary to get the jun one, ams makes a very good proven intake manifold.

hope this helps

there are a couple good threads in the AMS section on the benefits of their intake manifold at your power levels. Search that section, you can't miss them.

do a Buschur ported stock manifold, ported stock thorttle body, and a fully ported and polished head with 1mm+ oversized valves. with the money you save from only paying $350 for the buschur tb/im you can do your head! ams im is like $1k i belive.

Without question, a ported head and an appropriate cam set is the way to go in this case if one can only choose a single option.

I was just saying which intake manifold would probably give the most gains, based on the name alone.

Of course, I haven't heard of anyone who actually has bought one!

So basically the cheapest way to get decent power out of these is to probably get my head ported +1mm valves and then pay buschur to port my intake manifold?

what about porting the throttle body? or buying a larger throttlebody???

wonder how much more the +1mm valves and throttle body will kill gas mileage (I know, I know I cant be that concerned with that if I want 600 whp lol) I'm just curious lol

Why would you think this would impact fuel economy?

just thought the larger valves letting more air in could possibly impact it

The most significant impact to fuel economy will be a combination of your foot, and the tuning.
