Blurred EVO Dreams

Hey guys Im a new member and I want to talk cars with you. My friend just bought an 03 lancer ES and he is already getting sick of the crap we give him. I mean 120hp, FWD, and an automatic, of course he is going to get crap from his friends that are all DSM Tuners and american muscle guys. So he is now considering performance upgrades for his car. He wants to be able to keep up with the rest of us. We have been scoping RRE's turbo kit and we got to thinking, a turbo would be nice but a 4G63 would be better. I need to know a few things about this car first.

1. Would a 4G63 bolt in?
I ask this because I dont know if the engine compartment is like the evo8.

2. Wiring?
Would we have to rewire the car?

3. Tranny?
He is already sick of the auto and I cant blame him. Has anyone done a 5 speed swap on these cars yet? If so where could I contact them or get info on it?

Well I think thats it for now but Ill post some other stuff later. Thanks for your help if you can provide it.

1. No one has done a swap yet, as of what I know, and I don;t think it's possible.

2. If you have questions on the turbo contact RRM (not RRE), but as of wiring, I don't know what you mean. The whole kit should take about 6-8 hours to put in. It's a full bolt on kit.

3. I have an auto, it can still be fast if he's getting that turbo. If he's got the turbo, he will be able to beat many cars and not worry about shifting.

Well ya, you could always get strut bars, sway bars, lower it, get any other handling things, but you still won't have an AWD like an EVO!

Yea I agree that an auto can be fast but hes getting bored with it.

When I said wiring I was talking the wiring harness for the engine swap, not the turbo kit.

I told him if he wants to go fast then he should sell it and buy a DSM. Performance per dollar they are the best cars to mod.

Anything is possible but it takes hard work, money, and a lot of time. a shop here in miami is stripping out a hyunday, they will be installing a 4g63 in it, also Mike Simon's CRX (?) was runing 8's with a 4G63 RWD setup (Small engine bay). I say its possible to install a 4G63 in a lancer, U can always do a custom engine mount setup if u have to. Also Ryan's Lancer RWD setup 4g63 powered doing 7.8 1/4 mile it was a really old lancer though.
