Wow sounds like a whole lot of fun, I want to see some dyno charts for some of these comparisons.

On a 2.3 with a 50trim, will you get full boost under 4,000?

A 50 trim will reach 20psi around 3500rpm with a 2.3L. Horsepower and torque will be roughly the same also.

I'd go 2.3. The 2.3 with your 50 Trim will produce a great amount of low end torque. Also, with a 50 Trim, you do not need the additional revs granted by the 2.0. The 2.0 revs start to matter with 37r+ turbos... Good Luck...

The FP Green is a 49 pound per minute turbo and the 50 trim is a 50 pound per minute turbo, so the 50 trim will produce slightly more power. Both turbos are capable of 500whp on a Dynojet. The FP Green is capable of 500 wheel torque on a Dynojet and the 50 trim produces about 15 percent less torque than the FP Green.

The FP Green reaches 20psi by 3500rpm, just like stock. The 50 trim spools about 500rpm later than the FP Green.

The AMS GT35R turbo kit will max out to 650whp horsepower on a Dynojet and spools 800rpm later than stock.

I am in the same boat, have been thinking about it for months. I have a 50 trim turbo kit weighting for one or the other....

You are forgetting that that FPGREEN stilln has the stock exhaust housing and therefore has a restriction up top. It cannot hold big boost till redline especially with a stock wastegate actuator. The 50Trim will hold 28PSI+ past 8000 RPM's and have a significant topend, but yes the green would give you a higher torque spike for sure, but over all torque will be had by the 50 trim (like a AMS 50Trim kit btw, the whole kit) especially with meth.

The answer to your question really depends on what you want to do with your car.

I currently run an AMS 50 trim on a built 2.0L engine with pretty much all supporting mods. Fuel cut is set to 9100 RPM, shift points on pump gas fall around 8500 RPM. Fantastic setup for road racing. Probably not for everyone, though, since it's not as easy to drive on the street (read: you gotta keep the revs up if you want access to all of your power).

So ... if you're a nutbag like me and just want to hear your engine screaming along at 8500+ RPM, then go wiht a 50 trim on a built 2.0.

If you can chill on the RPM requirements, then IMO your best bet is a 2.3L with a GT35R turbo. Spoolup is near stock, but with an insanely wide powerband ... that's on pump ... on racegas it's ridiculous.

Either one sounds good to me. High revving with lag, but can be made up by being on high revs. Or faster spool at low rpm's all the way to redline. It would be nice to see a high revving 2.3, but you could just go with the FpGreen to make up the torque with the 2.0

Hey Ludikraut so what your saying is that the best setup for road race/track would be a 2.3L with a GT35R Turbo?? I'm starting to put together a daily/track car....

Yep. There are many reasons why the AMS TA car is so successful and a 2.3L 35R setup is definitely one of them. If you look at dyno charts of that type of setup, you'll see what I mean.

I have been looking into the 2.3L with the 35R. Now making it rev to 8k be better or worse for that set up? Id like a little higher rev, but still want the 2.3L for the streets. And still daily drive the car around to on top of it, would that be something worth looking into for myself?
