Question ? about Buschur Air Filter Kit

I was looking at the Buschur Air Filter Kit here and was wondering if this would need a tune? I know that all intakes require a re-tune due to possible driveability issues, but does this classify as an intake? I'm currently running the Jestr M1 flash with TBE/fuel pump/drop in. Is this worth it?

IIRC tests were done by a tuning company of before and after the Buschur drop-in install. it actually gained power over the K&N filter. if it gained power, you would THINK it might need a tune, but im not sure.

you don't need it, but it would never hurt. but to spend 3-500 on a tune based on an 80 mod doesn't make that much sense. i would wait to tune the car when you have a handful of mods on the car.

You don't need a retune for the addition of an air filter.

I would either use ECUFlash to rescale your MAF or get a retune. A conical filter can really mess with MAF readings and make you run lean.

yeh i know what you're talking about, just the drop in filter. honestly, i would say you dont need one, but if it were my car i would ask a tuner just incase. Al from Dynoflash has a lot of experience with Buschur parts and he's actually the one that did a before and after dyno of a generic air filter vs. a BR filter. he could help you. pm him.

Yeah, I've got the same filter. The back of the filter, not pictured, has an adapter plate that bolts right up to the MAF. As far as the tune goes, it's probably not necessary but absolutely recommended.

thanks! i read around from a few people that a tune is not necessary because these supposedly do not interfere with AFR measurements and to help its a dry filter...but im not too sold on this.

Actually I think just about any aftermarket intake alters the AFR, even the BR Filter. I did find some info in this thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=198058

Post number 8 and 9 on page 1. Warrtalon and Al (DynoFlash) know what they are talking about.

i was in the same boat as you (jestr flash with tbe, fuel pump, boost controller, and drop in). after alot of searching i found a thread by al at dynoflash( i think) that logged a drop in k&n filter with a flash and then installed a buschur cone filter (same flash no alterations) and there were no alterations to the afr, just horspower gains. granted this is probably only true with the buschur filter but i went ahead and installed a buschar filter on my car and it runs great. ill try to find the link for you

edit: here is the link i was refering to https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=198058
