maybe something got caught on the axle below the e brake and was swinging and beating on the bottom of the car and by the time you got where you were going it flung itself off.

I think I misread or misunderstood something. Is it still making an abnormal noise, or did it just happen for a period of time?

Limey,

My 93 Talon has done the same thing under the same conditions. It was wet out, I punched it and the wheels try to gain traction and road conditions are just right, the AWD drivetrain starts shifting load around. It's kinda like "wheel hop" for the viscous coupler Scary huh? Sounds like the propshaft (as per the shop manual) is coming up through the gear shift knob.

Edit: It never seemed to have any negative effect on the car afterwards and I have not duplicated it.

Yes, according to the shop manual the propeller shaft runs from front to rear and the driveshafts run out to the hubs. It appears my terminology was all backwards!

Windscreen = windshield

Torch = flashlight

Bonnet = hood

Anti-clockwise = counter-clockwise

You need a translater even though we both speak English

STOP driving it.. Call mitsu and have them come trailer the car back.. Make them fix it..

If something is beating on the floor of the car you are just doing damnage to the undercarrage on your car. And mitsu is NOT going to fix that.

Either is was the Traction Control or you had something that got flung on the driveshaft.

You guys need to relax, drive your Evos, and quit looking for reasons that it is not right.

Limey,

Anything dripping underneath? Shaft seals? Transfer case seals? Rear diff? I have not read of other owners reporting the noise on their EVO's. I would have your dealership look at it. My Talon did it once, but the vibration was definitely below the shifter.

Hey Limey,

I had the same thing happen the other day on wet roads getting on it hard in a corner, it must be the diffs distributing the power.. scared the crap out me too, I thought I broke my baby.

I dman sure sounded like the drive shaft was about to come through the floor board.

I think I may pull up the carpet and put down some dynamatt so I don't hear every little noise.
