Any Solid info as to WHY the APEXi Intake is a poor choice? It is almost identical to the Buschur unit.

really i dont know...

i have the Apexi intake with the stock turbo pipe and it performs pretty well. We know for a fact that the filtering capabilities are pretty good and again this type of filter can make power... Also its a dry type thus no worries on messing up the Maf signal with excessive oil...

The only modifications i have on the intake are a removed intake box cover to utilise the air scoop until i find another way to feed the filter with more air and a heat wrapped intake pipe....

On my setup with this intake i have seen 309whp/327ft-lbs at 22psi on a Dyno Dynamics... i have 12.14@114.2 on pump gas on the stock clutch with a 1.73 60ft and 3500 pounds weight... these are pretty good credentials i think...

Unfortunately either i have unlimited funds or i am a shop/tuner to do tests...When i have the money to spend on an another intake i could do some testing but i doubt that i will have significant gains to explain the 300 dollar investment on a HKS RS intake for example...

Im interested in what about the HKS makes it Sean's pick. Is it the intake PIPE or the FILTER. For instance, the Helix intake pipe is a 100% mirror copy of the HKS intake pipe, however comes with a different filter.

The HKS has the least resistance to flow. I mean you can almost see through the filter, if you can cal it that as it just doesn't filter at all but it does flow air. If a Chinese company buys an HKS Intake pipe and simply copies it 100%, yeah it'll work fine, but it's HKS's hard work being stolen.

I have the APEXi intake, just the filter, and I believe it to flow alot, filter by FAR the best, and not disrupt the MAF like the HKS unit clearly does.

The APEXi filter is VERY similar in design to the Buschur as it has angled cone which Utilizes an upper and lower funnel, the Apexi Power Intake reduces air turbulence within the filter and creates smooth air flow into the throttle body. The Apexi Power Intake is a maintenance-free dry-type air filter and will alleviate the problem of filter oil from"wet" air cleaners interfering with the air-flow meter.

Plus look at how COOL it looks

It is my itake filter of choice, I am keeping the stock intake pipe for MAF reasons as well.

+1

You said it much better than i could ever analyze the pros and cons of the two intakes...

Maybe in the end the best performing combo would be the Apexi Power Intake filter with the HKS RS piping...
