I'm not sure if it helps, but I think I heard somewhere that the new F450 diesels are twin turbo. Not in the normal way, but one in line with the other. A smaller turbo feeding into a bigger turbo. This causes faster spool, with more power supposedly. On top of that, it's supposed to be more efficient. I'm not sure on the exact specs on it, but it sounds like a cool idea.

Too much complexity, but the idea does sound good on paper and while bench racing.

This is just one link, but IMO is very impressive. Car was at full weight as well.

The VGT from Porsche already has a bigger brother, and the implementation you refer to is actually varying the A/R. You can buy one at FVD for $6000.00, good luck controlling it without the Bosch computer. I was trying to get airflow numbers earlier this week, but seems illusive.
