You mean you have a Skyline, an Evo and an STI (3 turbocharged and intercooled cars) and you dont know what it is like to have an intercoller pipe blow off? You didnt visually inspect the engine at all on the side of the road?

I am going to leave this one alone....................

LOL, sounds like a $400-ish repair that could have been avoided if your dad had taught you how to use a screwdriver.

I also have a IX that did much the same - the exhaust turbine wheel just fell off and the inlet wheel was rubbing against the housing. I had to replace the turbo.

Interestingly it happened when only under medium load - I have no idea why, but it hasn't happened again.

Let us know what you find eventually.

did you even bother to inspect the car before you brought it to the dealer? like the other guy said, you need to learn how to use a screw driver. Now you screwed yourself because the stealership is most likely going void your warranty...sorry bro

Definatly the ic pipe. Mine actaully did the same thing yesterday on the beltway while I was logging the car. Like the post above me said your warranty is toast once the dealer sees your mods. Unlless there cool and I hope they are

Give the guy a break, not everyone is mechanically inclined. I learned everything by going out there and doing it myself. Sometimes its not always the quickest way or the smartest way but some just dont want to go through the hassle.

I would call up the dealership to see if they have even looked at it yet and if they haven't touched I would tell them not to do anything with it until you get there and have a look at it. If it is just an ic pipe then that would save you a crap load of money.

Most likely an IC pipe - pissed me off the first time it happened; scared the hell outta me the second time it happened; still scared the hell outta me the third time it happened...

this guy probably has a lot money. hence the reason why he had it towed before inspecting anything. If it was me or most of us out there calling the tow man would be a last resort.

He probaly got scared away from all the licp pipe talk. I swear i just read threw it all and i felt like i was on a merry go round. Wish him the best of luck, i know it scared the crap out of me when mine blew off for the firs time(deffinitly not the last) now i just kind of laugh cause it scares everyone in the car. Hope the original thread starter comes in and says whats up soon. Know which pipe it was is so suspenseful. Just poking some fun, hope it all is okay for the thread starter.
