Heellpp!! Blew My Motor Today!

Hey Guys,

Well first off I have a IX GSR with the mods found in my sig.

Also, Koji, at XS engineering tuned my car a few weeks ago and mentioned that my injectors were prettymuch maxed out at 7,500rpm, but he made sure to make my tune as rich as he could up top and pull back the timing a little to make up for it.

So today my car was running as great as ever until I was rolling up to a red light that turned green during my approach, I downshifted to third and and punched it. Not WOT, but just peppy, ya know? Somewhere between 3,500-5,500 rpms I heard a loud pop followed by an immidiate loss in engine performance. Idle is Horribly rough, car will only roll with you alternate the gas and clutch just right, soulds like its running on 3 cylinders. makes a lot of popping noise like something is banging around in the engine.
I had to drive about 2.5 miles like this at speeds up to 30-40mph to find somewhere safe to pull over. Took a look in the engine bay, no smoke, nothing unusual, just a rough idle, called a tow company and had it flatbedded to south coast mitsubishi where I got the car.

By the way, im boosting at about 22-23spike tapering and holding at about 19-20 to redline. on cali 91 octane.

So, what do you guys think it is? What are some possibilities of what it could be?

Thanks in advanced guys!

I already miss her though

Check your intercooler. From the sounds of it you may have simply blown a coupler (or pipe) off. Maf not seeing air=angry car.

It sounds like an intercooler hose might have popped off.
Was it making any boost after this happened?

pull the spark plugs, also do a compression test..

it sounds like something simple, such as a intercooler pipe.

Doubtful he can do any checking since he towed it to the dealership. Only thing he can do is prepare for an assrape from them.

You guys, when I just read all your replies about the intercooler hose, I got excited, There may be some hope..

But, yes, it was building some boost but just wasnt really going anywhere I mean, i got it to go a few miles but it was bucking and stragglin the whole time.
