ok, bottom line, your NOT pumping fuel to the rail correct? if the pump is pumping then there is a missing link to getting the fuel to the rail.

It is getting to the rail but not with any type of pressure behind it. I am wondering if I got some bad fuel and it clogged something. I am going to go tinker with it some more. I have done several fuel pumps and never had a problem like this one.

What is safety mode? And I thought the cam sensor is more for ignition timing?

Make sure you took every little peice off of the stock pump and put it on to the new walbro. I made that mistake the first time I did my pump, and left the tiny white plastic ring on the stocker, and forgot to move it over. Then the pressure from the pump pushed the rubber ring back down, breaking the seal of the fuel system and letting the gas fall back into the tank. It barely wanted to start, and if you did manage to get it going, it idled like it was on untuned camshafts.

There may be times when using the gas pedal may be necessary to start fuel injected cars. With the Evo the owner's manual recommends holding it halfway down when having problems starting it.

crank but no start

This same situation happend to me years ago on my vr4 when I installed a denso pump. Turned out i was missing a rubber seal and not building up enough fuel pressure for the car to start.

if the lines are fine, it HAS to be a seal or something on the pump

Ok so pulled the pump again for the umbtenth time now it is a pressure problem. Start dismantling everything on the pump and notice the other plug on the pump housing. I know this has absolutly nothing to do with a fuel pump install but I figured what the hell it is the only thing I haven't checked in the pump housing. Well I originally had some freinds pull the pump from the tank. They stopped by to see if I figured it out and as I am staring at the housing just dumbfounded, one of them mentions the other connector. Then proceeded to remove the connector and inside is a O-Ring rolled over itself in the housing. The one part of the project that I didn't have a hand in and it gets f**ked up. Well guess next time I should just keep doing things on my own. Thanks for all the help, I guess I was just fried from working on the thing all day and night.

Yep, thats pretty much what I said, something had to be ****ed up around the output of the pump. Good job figuring it out. Glad the car runs again.

I was just about to say the rollover switch (that is the other thing on the side of the pump assembly with the oring), I f'd mine up just like that when I did the fuel pump for the first time.

Glad you got it sorted. Have a beer on me for feeling the same pain I felt
