Just got done with my turbo swap
hey all, i just got done with a successful green turbo swap and i had a few questions . would a boost leak show on your idle vacuum read out on a gauge? if that makes any sense lol, and one more, is there any negatives about driving your car after installing larger injectors(780's), the car doesn't stall or even sound like it wants to. thanks for any help, going next weekend to tune her........cant wait!!!!
How long did the install take? The boost leak would only show at idle if you had a large leak. I would do a boost leak test before you get tuned to get the most out of it.
honestly it prolly toke me about 8 or so hours to do the turbo, fuel rail, injectors. not too bad, first time doing something like this. yeah im actually putting together a leak tester right now.
damn i bought it straight out (didnt send them my stock 05 turbo) from lancershop so i suspect it will take longer..arghhh..i will let you get on with your post now

well im pretty sure that was my question, just asking if the vacuum would change at all do to a slice in a line any place or something of that nature. but like i said before, are there any negatives to driving my car wiht 780's and no tune?
Not anything really major, but with upgraded injectors you car will be running over rich. Since the Ecu thinks they are somewhat close to stock, it will scale back but only so much. So You will just be running rich until you get tuned. May not hurt anything now, but in the long run things will start to go bad, You will not have as much power since the A/f ratio is way off.
You will run way rich, mpg will go in the ****ter and the possibility of getting unburnt gas past the ringlands into your oil. Not a good idea.
The stock injectors can go pretty far, put them back in till you can get a tune.
Look at it this way, without a tune you will never get the most out of the setup anyway. You will get better performance now with the stock injectors back in there. The ecu will be able to do a better job with fuel trims and keep target a/f ratio in a much happier place.
