Holy crap with this tob. we have pulled the tranny. the only part left that is holding the tranny is the tob. we tried turning the screwdriver between the ring and the tob and nothing. it is very tight on there. we also tried prying the tranny off by force hoping the tob will pop off but it wont. i think my car has an rps clutch since i bought it used and they told me it had an rps clutch in it but am not sure. HOW DO I TAKE OFF THIS TRANNY???????????? I am so pissed off right now... help me guys...

 

Did you turn the crankshaft when you used the screwdriver? You need to do it a few times so it disengages the entire clip all the way around.

Also, is the clutch a push-type conversion?

Play with the lever and then try prying in between the ring. It is a *****. Took me forever. More importantly, walk away for a while if you are getting frustrated. It will not happen when you are pissed.

 

rps clutch retainer clips are a pain in the neck they are some of the tightest wedges i have seen so far the last on i did i pryd it of the pressure plat one pry bar on each side and broke that retainer clip cause i couldnt get it to pop out or you can try depressing the retainer clip and take a rubber malet and hit the clutch fork while hold the reainer clip.

 

does it matter how loose the tranny is to take the tob out. the tranny is completely loose basically. we turned the tranny a little. so should i bolt it back up and take out the tob then?? the clutch fork is pushed all the way to the driver side and i cant move it at all.

 

You're supposed to disengage the bearing with the tranny still on. You don't remove the bearing until the tranny is off the car and you can access the inside of the bell housing.

 

give me a call at the number below. this has happened to me a couple of times with an ACT clutch. there is a way to take it off the pressure plate from the outside of the transmission. its easier to explain over the phone.
