Waste of money. Unless you like having poor fuel economy and washing down your cylinder bores with excess fuel.

Hypothetically, if you have one, wouldn't the point you make be moot if you have a tune?

i dont see why its a waste of money, they are cheap and how does it hurt the motor the aftermarket thermostat just flushes the water out of the motor sooner. the water is still hot as hell. just doesnt let it get as hot as normal before flushing it out for the water in the radiator.

The ONLY thing the thermostat does is activate the cooling fan. (A thermostat is a temperature activated electrical switch) The coolant is ALWAYS in constant circulation in your engine and through your radiator when your car is running. Just as the oil in your car is ALWAYS in constant circulation when the engine is running.

I am pretty sure there is a SPRING in the Ralliart thermostat that opens more at a lower temperature than the stocker.

Besides, how does the thermostat turn on the fan? I am looking at a thermostat right now, and see no electrical connection whatsoever.

That isnt true. Have you seen a thermostat? There isnt an electrical connection on it to control the fans. The thermostat acts as a restriction in the coolant system to promote faster warm ups. It keeps the coolant return passage closed off until the specified temp (88 degree C) is reached, then it opens, allowing the coolant to flow through the radiator.
