I had the RMR open air element on for about three weeks. During that time the only thing I noticed that was different was the sound. Dont get me wrong, thats the reason why I WANTED an open filter, to hear the damn turbo! However, throttle response was just not there, and 2500-3000rpm boost was not as good as it was before. Of course everything was hooked up right and no boost leaks. You have to be a moron to not be able to install an intake. Morons take the vacuum lines off the boost controller to work around it.

I put the STOCK box back on, and I then enjoyed the good throttle response and good freeway boost that the open air element could not provide. I just wish I could get some damn induction noise with the stock box!!~!~!~

He already has the RMR. The point of this post rather was that the open air kits just may be inferior to the stock airbox set-up. He (the evo wins) is just trying to find out if the Buschur is producing adverse results as well. Sometimes these things are a little more abstract that what thet appear to be, which is why you may want to read a few posts next time instead of just reading the header, riceburner221 No offense though ... been there-done that.

Hey evo wins ... why do't you ask Al Freidman (alfriedesq) about this? I believe he's runnning the RMR filter kit with hard induction piping and he's at 400 wheel hp. Just a suggetion .... still think you should swap back to stock and buy a high flow drop in though.

Well I'm hearing that the Apexi Super AFC will fix the problem...I'm not too sure....I might put the stock airbox on and let you guys know which one is better....After I get the Super AFC, I will test both the stock and RMR filters to see which works better with the AFC.....I'm basically looking at 2 different sets of results...stock vs. RMR with no other mods and stock vs RMR with just the Super AFC...

im going with the ralliart drop-in. My dealer would probably **** if they saw my open air filter anyway. I didnt run with it for very long, but im glad to be back to the stock box.

I remember touching the intercooler pipe when the open air filter was on, and I could feel that the pipe was hot. Tonight I touched the upper i-cooler pipe again after running it hard and it felt cold! I really couldnt believe it but the air must be a lot colder with the stock box. I should have did some damn datalogging with my Pocketlogger so I could have some facts~!~!~~! Im too lazy to put the open filter back on though, anyone else ever datalog this??

hmmm....i just might have an idea...lol....why not try leaving the open filter and put that stock airbox stuff around it like it is a drop in filter...that way it will be insulated.....could that work?

Nah, won't work. The filter won't fit in the box and you'd have to do some serious rigging to make it work.

That's why I made a heatshield and deflector to the stock inlet.
Figure it helps, someday someone will come up with something good as far as cai.

hmmm Ive seen those HKS Supermegaflow mufflers enclosed in those Carbon Fiber Induction boxes. That would be trick... it would also repel water, which was ANOTHER reason why i dont like the Open air element! It rains a lot here in Seattle and the other day my freakin filter got wet!! LAME. Yet another reason to keep the stock box....

Can't argue that a ong path is not good, but since there is no where to put a filter but where it is, it means someone will come up with a proper heatshield, etc that works well.
Of course look at all that IC piping, could that be any longer?

Well those carbon fiber boxes just cover and surround the filter (muffler????)..The stock airbox actually attaches to the MAF and so does the RMR....if only those could share that or somethin i dunno lol

My setup from page two here is on the other side of the MAF. Keeps the MAF a little cooler from engine heat. The upright goes from the battery to the fan shroud so it is blocking a decent amount of engine heat. the front area is wide open but that is behind the headlight and would only provide cooler air anyway.
