Temperture

New here.. I'm not sure if Im posting in the right page. Sorry in advance. I hust purchased my 05 EVO MR. Car has only 15k on it, and already I'm having problems with temperture. The engine was running hot, and the temperture gauge shot up real high. Well I took it back to the dealer, and they said it needed a head gasket. So they kept it for a week to change the head gasket. Now I'm very paranoid about it happening again. What should my temperature gauge read? What is the safe zone? Can someone with more knowledge give me some friendly advice? I appreciate it. Thanks.

Or more importantly why did you head gasket blow? Is the car modded?

The temperature guage shot up real high?

How high?

My temperature guage usually reads between 70 and 90 but goes higher or lower if im driving hard or if it's really cold out.

The dealer is probably just trying to bend you over.

I'm pretty sure there wasn't any white smoke coming out from the exhaust, but there was coolant leaking somewhere under the intake manifold somewhere. I stopped at a ATM one one day, and I left the car running. AS I was coming back to car, i had notice my temperture shot up real HIGH.. The gauge read about 100 or so. So I shut off the car and popped the hood open and I noticed coolant leaking, and I can smell Antifreeze. You can actually hear it leaking it's like a fizzzling noise coming from under the intake manifold. So I waited until it cooled down, and I just added more coolant to the radiator, and drove it to the dealership which was an hour away, but temperture was reading normal, between 70 to 80. The car is modded, but not really sure i I believe it though. They are claiming that it has 272 cams in it and thats it, everythingelse is stock. The only reason why I believe them is because there is a rough idle when it's sitting there idling. Well now that I got my car back yesterday, I'm just not sure if the engine is going to hold up any longer. Its usually a chain reaction, one things goes after another. Thanks guys for input, and sorry for the LONG post, I just needed some advice, I never owned a turbo charge car B4. Can someone please devirginized me. Thanks

ok im pretty sure that you are reading the oil temp thats in the 3 gauge pod that came witht the car. which can go up to 100 *C w/o any problems. (when parked over a hot pavement over a period of time it happens)(or when you take it to the track) the engine temp gauge doesnt show you the actual temp. it shows if its cold or hot.
