EGT fitting Brass ~1400F

I have an Autometer EGT probe, with a brass fitting, no matter how tight I install it (cold) after about 1-2 hrs of running ~ 1200-1400F the probe falls out of the manifold. (I'm not going to my hands near a burning hot manifold either)

Anyone know where I can find a mild steel fitting? Or any Ideas? WHat kind of probes are you using

Thanks

I use an autometer EGT. i swapped the fitting out for a S/S one from Hydraulic Supply Co. who specialize in hoses, fittings pumps etc. IRC it was a 3/16 ID hole, 1/8 MIP and compression fitting on the outboard side. I used a solid graphite washer in the compression side to firmly hold the egt probe. No problems.

If you cannot find one, you can get a 1/8 MIP-1/8 compression fitting, drill the hole out carefully to be a tight fit, and drill out the compression ferrule the same size. Take care when assembling it and do notovertighten. Also be careful of the MIP threads in the manifold, overtightening the adaptor into the manifold could cause cracks or enlarge the hole. It will never hold securely then and you'll end up getting the manifold welded or replacing it.

brass is not a suitable material for elevated temperatures seen on an exhaust mani

go with stainless steel, www.swagelok.com - https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/at...6&d=1134345985
