Hks Gd Clutch Max For The Lancer Evo

I have an evo 7 and I installed this clutch(it's a twin disc)
works very well....only for one problem.
it is noisy....whenever the clutch pedal is depressed.
my mechanic says thats how it works or how it supposed to work.

anyone know anything of this?or have any logical explanations?or have had this experience?

thanks

Yup, twin plate clutches do that becasue they are floating disks. How much did you pay for that clutch? You know that is just an Exeedy twin right? As long as you didn't pay too much over 1500 then you done well!

Actually, I don't think the HKS is an Exedy..I know the Cusco is though.

The HKS's are quite noisy and very abrupt when going from dead stop to first gear...great clutch, but not the smoothest out there.

We have had good luck with the Exedy twin disk so far...very driveable clutch for this car.

Next on the test list is the ORC units, as we keep hearing good things about them (and their power holding claims are far and away the highest)

Adam,

What is the power holding claims from Exeedy, and ORC? Ogura is real popular, but I have heard so many good things about the Exeedy. I don't know which way to turn.

thanks guys....
well I just wanted to make sure that the noise was a normal thing.it had me worried.
the clutch is really good otherwise.I find it to be just like the stock clutch.it is no problem to drive in traffic...
by the way...BADWRX..i paid $1300 for it, out of Dynamic Turbo in Florida.
Also..i heard as well that hks just buys the clutches from companies such as cusco and then just stamp their name on it.and u end up paying a little more cause u are paying for the name when u buy from hks.
i would recommend the clutch to anyone....it is not fierce at all.

Nope, that is the going rate for a twin plate clutch. It comes with everything. Flywheel, 2 disks and cover. So, it isn't such a bad deal.

It will hold a hell of alot more, and last a hell of alot longer than a regular clutch.

Your action on a twin plater is also vastly improved over the classic single.

I drove a WRX with a 6MT and a Cusco (Exeedy)Hyper single, and it was far better than stock too, but like an on/off switch, engagement range was very small. I hear that a twin plater gives you a nice smooth yet powerfull engagement range. Allowing you to apply high RPM clutch feather without just cooking the disk.
