I just got my tranny back from shep 50 miles on it so far and im very happy with it. I assumed it was going to be super notchy for the first 400-500 miles

I did a search on TRE and it seems like he has a lot return customers.... Shep doesnt have to many cause they seem to hold together much better....

Cheers!

i would say shep. i've never had to wait more than a day to get an email response from him when i had simple questions about fluids, how to remove shift selectors, if he had ring/pinion sets for the TC, stuff like that, that he really didn't have to answer as alot was just advice. also, most all the fastest drag/track evo's in the US run sheps trans. not to mention he builds the one in his 7-second full metal DSM.

Remember the saying you get what you pay for...

I would go with a shep trans and be done with it...

Trying to save money now will only cost you more in the future...

I wouldn't beat that into the ground, TRE has a pretty good reputation.

I have used both. My tre tranny had some shifting issues was notchy, and was grinding in 2nd on my first event with it. I decided to change to Shep's trans, first thing I noticed was how much smoother it was to shift the car. It seemed to flow right into gear easier to allow quicker shifting. I never had an issue with Shep's trans and have been running it for a long time now. Also shep seems to communicate quicker than TRE.

Try breaking one of his tranny's first and then see what kind of reputation or customer service he has...

+1

Shep is the man who runs 7's in a 4G63 powered car. He knows his ****.

I called Shep and spoke with a rep for like 10 minute, he was awesome, before we hung up I asked who it was. I sure did get a surprise when it was John Shepard, lol

Thanks for suggesting us guys, we weren't in the "voting" though My trans in my daily driver running 9.7's has been absolutely flawless and the trans in our EVO running 8.9's has too..............

First: AMS vs Buschur

Now: Shep vs TRE....

I personally went with Shep because when I called I got to talk to Shep himself. I explained what happened with my car, he discussed my power goals and recommened what I should use. Very nice guy to deal with. But its really a toss up between performance parts...There are a lot of good companies, there will be good and bad experiences with all of them.

Quick Reply: tre or shep trans....
