I beleive he went low 9s on the custom double synrco trans which is now there stage 4 trans. I was trying to get another point across, not if u have a dog box you can run 7s on even 10s for that manner. Also WRC cars were running dogboxes way before they were used in Drag.

I believe it was 8's and he also use a single disc ACT with a heavy PP that he had developed for him.

I've done nasty **** to my shep trans. Axles have put dents in my frame, pressure plates have let go, and clutch discs are replaced with oil changes. It comes back for more. My stock trans was a train wreck waiting to happen. Mid 11's at 130 on a 160K mile tranny, boy was I baby shifting that old girl down the track.

Hitting gears has nothing to do with how well its built.....

http://youtube.com/watch?v=8HWjiZqxoEg

I seem to be hitting gears there just fine with a stock tranny. I just cant take the beating which is why it blew up on me.

I picked shep because he may not have the fastest evo, or an evo at all. I dont know nor do i care what he drives... But from my point of view it seems liek he rebuilds the most evo tranny's with the least amount of complaints...

i rather send my tranny who has done 5000 trannys with 10 complaints, than 100 trannys with no complaints. I also keep reading about people with TRE trannys that need replacment very very rarely a shep tranny

Cheers!
a tranny is a tranny . Dude are you good? I seen my trans apart and it looked nothing like what I am use to seeing. When I stopped in to pay my bill at Buschurs I was thinking F that noise when I seen Dan had it all apart. I do trannys all the time for guys here on local forums in there VW's and do them alot at work. Not all manuals are alike inside.

Johns car doesnt use a syncro trans... so your "he runs 7's" BS aint gonna work here

Someone back me on this 1, but on 1 and 2g car's the diff is inside the trans, and Evo's are in the T-case? If this is the case that alone would make the designs different inside. Also our trannys will hold ALOT more power than the older 4g cars.

FYI a few of my friends here in c-bus are having problems with there Shep trannys as we speak in there 2g's. I know things wear out and need freshed up from time to time, but getting a few passes on it and it f'ed up again

So take your Shep is the best BS and shove it. I was only posting give Buschur a shot, or at lease a thought, to the oringial poster of this thread.

Also Shep does have an Evo... its red. If It will make you sleep better tonight. I touched it lastweek

I have a Cusco twin-plate installed. I had initially thought the off-throttle rattling was my downpipe knocking against the undercarriage, but after ovalizing it the sound remained. Any ideas?

Doesn't matter who built it throw enough abuse at it and it will break.

That's correct. Shep had the ring and pinion set manufactured. He has them made in batches of about 25. If you want one in this batch, you'd better CALL him now. When that batch is gone, it will be a bit of a wait for the next batch to be done.

If I want a tranny rebuilt, I don't look at drag racing history- I look at transmission building history.

I talked to Jon at TRE at length, and if you compare what you get done for the price, his stage 2 with Evo VIII 3rd and 4th gears is where my transmission rebuild money will go if/when the time comes.

Awesome, I love being patronized. Forgive my ignorance, but someone please tell me why a clutch would rattle when it's engaged?
