6.5tme vs a stock 05 turbo
I know everyone will say go with the FP green but thats not what i can afford right now. What im trying to find out is there any gain between the stock 05 turbo with the 10.5 and the 6.5 tme. Would this turbo help u pick up like another 15-20hp over the stocker? I have all the major bolt on with 272s cams and i put 357 down and was look so more hp. will the spool be better with the 6.5 tme over the stocker from an 05? anybody have any dyno #s for the TME.

The 6.5 will spool quicker due to the fact that it has a titanium wheel, but its still a 16g turbo like the stocker. Id do more research or contact someone here on the forum who used the 6.5. I think SmokedMustang used the 6.5 on his car if you want to try to contact him.

I think you gain maybe 10-20 AWHP due to the hotside alone?(improvement from the '03 stock turbo with the stock hotside) The titanium wheel will get the boost up there FAST due to it's lightweight. I loved the turbo!! Big difference.
So I guess, the only HP gains would be what a hot side adds to an '03 turbo. that's it. The SPOOL is hella quicker then the stock '03 16G turbo. (TME is a 16G also- same size, but added hotside) Hope this helps.

So the '05 has the 10.5 hotside stock? I can't remember. If so, getting the TME will ONLY give you faster spool. Quicker spool leads to a quicker use of the power? and quicker ET's then the '05 stock turbo? I think it would. Worth the price? That is something you would have to chew on. I would re-spend the TME turbo money on something else to make THAT part more HP efficient to make up for that "quicker spool". Just my 2c. Lets better spend your money..........what mods do you have?

I have a JDM VIII RS turbo, which has a titanium-aluminide turbine wheel just like the TME 6.5. The RS´s titanium turbine wheel is slightly larger than the TME´s Titanium wheel, but it´s basically the same thing... just marginally better. I´ll sell it cheap. Send me a PM.

my mods are BC 272 cams, mbc, buschar filter, ets lower icp, aps turbo back, ebay 02 housing, 255 and i had rnr race core and Turbo Trix tuned the car and it made 357awhp and 337 lbs trq. I have since added a buschar ported exhaust manifold ets uicp with tial bov, got ride of the rnr racecore bc it was an ebay core and got a ets race core and i also did a cutout. so do u think there is any improvment possible with the tme or the jdm rs turbo spanky was speaking off? i would love to get up around 375whp or 380whp. any info will help thanks

why dont you just buy a ix turbo that will give u better gains over both and it will be about the same price and you will definetely be around 370-380..get a meth kit and u will be in good shape. ix turbo loves meth.

Look, after rereading your original post I'd say that you might be better off looking for a good, used IX turbo. Since you would like to see a noticeable power increase on a limited budget, the IX's improved compressor housing will tend to make more of an impact on power production than the TME's low mass turbine wheel. I just think that ultimately you should be able to wring more power out of the IX turbo with a proper tune than you would from a TME, given the same list of mods.
I suspect that the difference between a stock USDM VIII 16G and a 6.5 TME turbo is mostly in the area of spoolup and transient response. The IX turbo will be able to produce higher horsespower numbers on a dyno than either your '05 USDM 16G or the 6.5 TME turbo. I just wouldn't want you to be disappointed.
Good Luck

TME turbo is only a worthy upgrade if you can get it for dirt cheap and you have a stock 03-04 turbo. The best upgrade if you can find it for under $400 is a stock IX turbo, however, keep in mind you need some install parts for it.
