something wrong with my evo!!! need help..

ok guys this is my problem ....Lastweek I was driving an notice that my rpm was acting wierd....

I cant figure out what the hell is wrong with my car , Its basically stock besides the KN drop in filter ..

THe car has 31k on the meter, So I havent done the 30k maintance yet.
Its to damn expensive, Thinking it could be that my fluid are dirty causing the problem, but everyone who test drove my car said that its mightnot be it

Anyways the rpm jumps when im shifting, It only happens when im in boost.

If I shift under boost its fine....****ing sucks man ...i baby my car and this **** happens ....
If am on the highway cruise in 5th gear and decide to step on it to go fast my rpm would jump real quick and drop an jump again, when that happens my motor would sound like if i had an automatic car and the tranny is going. (Its like a split second noise) then the car would pick up like does normally..

I dont know ...could be my clutch slipping or tranny .

Its funny I dont really beat on my car, never launch or took it the the tracks ..Its just a cruise around carfor me .

I read alot about the rpm jumping on the forums but noone ever said about that happening in 5th gear ...so guys any info ...I bought it brand new grs ix ...

Your clutch is dead. How many times have you launched the car?

But he said he hasn't launched his car. Perhaps you may want to take it to the 30K maintenance and see if it still does it when you get it back.

If you floor the car in 5th and the rpms fly up and then suddenly come down, your clutch is done. 30k maintenance wont help.

Sounds like a clutch, 31K isn't too bad for stock clutch with no launching...is this your first manual or Awd manual car?

Ok assuming he is correct, what have you done that could have caused your clutch to go? If you have not launched your car (which to my understanding is the best way to kill your clutch) then you could be in luck by being covered by a warranty.

I changed my stock clutch out at 37,000 miles with over a 100 launches on it. There wasn't anything wrong with the clutch either, I just wanted to upgrade to an exedy t/d for my new power.

IMO, it mostly depends on the driver. I'm sure there are other factors but this is the biggest one!

To the poster, your clutch is shot. I don't think your clutch is shot from "normal" driving.

Well if we are going to mention clutches then I'd go with the Carbonetics Twin or Tripple Carbon.

thanks for the reply ....i never launch my car ..drove manual all my life .. and i
know how a slip clutch feels nothing like this ....the reason why i bought an evo is
its an around car .. summer /winter car.. i kno i kno why buy a fast car when u dont beat on it ...its just im not into it ....it was either 2006 s2000 or a 2006 evo ix and the evo was my pick, but i didnt think the evo would be so much maintance ...i hope its the clutch and not the tranny or the motor itself ..its funny i thought the clutch would last me 5000 or 6000 more miles ....damnit i love my evo but Gsssss so much money doing maintance then hooking it up sucks man ....one more thing .. i am hearing a whine noise underneath the car in the rear....the noise sounds all the time while park, driving ..u think it mite be a cause of the rpm jumping .( what is that sound anyone) srry guys am new to evos had hondas and toyota so dont kno ish about mits ... gotta make sure that its really the clutch thats doing it dont want to waste money on a new clutch an (again mad expensive) to replace and that **** turn out to be something else..thanks again guys for all those replys

First off, punctuation and grammar are your friends, Your posts are extremely hard to read and piece together.

You say you hear a whining noise underneath the car. Elaborate on that more. It might just be gear noises.

I would replace the clutch very soon. If it is slipping badly in more than just 1 gear, then it will die very soon.

sorry for the bad grammar . The whine is coming for the rear of the car , i think it's coming from the rear diff or somewhere around there....and the gears are not slipping i can shift fine when am under boost its when i shift it above 4000 thats when it starts to happen it doesnt feel like its slippin it feels like the motor hasitates then kicks in. just for a few seconds the rpm jumps up and drops down then up again .. but why would my clutch slip when im in 5th gear crusing .. if i decide to go fast and step on the gas it starts to happen ....sorry grammar sucks bare with guys ....stressing out man

The whine could be your Fuel Pump your hearing, when they get hot or low on fuel, they whine. The hesitation could be from your plugs.
A lot of the maintenance can be done by yourself, it's really not that hard and a hell of a lot cheaper. That K&N can leave residue on your MAF, I would buy a can of CRC MAF cleaner (follow direction) and clean that along with replacing your plugs with stock NGK p/n ILFR7H, you can get these at sparkplugs.com. Do not change gap, there already pre-gapped.
