Next Mod?

hey guys. i have around $500-550 to spend on my car. i am thinking about getting some 272 hks cams. heres the mods i already have

-20g turbo
-full 3" tbe
-ams fmic kit
-injen intake
-mr headers
-walbro fuel pump
-turbo timer
-mbc
-greddy bov

so with those mods im looking to get the biggest increase in power and just get my car alot faster. so with the money i have to spend what should i get to make my car really fly. right now i dynoed at 348whp, and i know that can be alot higher!!!

Yep...cams or meth are both a good buy in that range. I'd say cams.

Cams and head studs, for certain! HKS 280's if it's a VIII, Cosworth's if it's a IX.

I wouldn't go with used cams, especially not HKS 272/264. You can get a brand new set of GSC or Comps for $430-450, and you can get better durations.

Probably shouldn't be modding then...

You have a 20g, AMS FMIC, and Injen bling, but not enough cash for a proper set of new cams? That's confusing. The cams require a retune, so the total cost will be over your budget anyway unless you have a way to get flashed for less. If you do a base flash, which is only $50, then you can get new cams and be within budget.

500-550 isn't much money to do something with. Like Warrtalon said, you will be over your spending limit by the time you get cams, headstuds and get the car tuned to take advantage of the new cams. If I were you, I would save up another 500 bucks. That "should" be enough.

I would find a set of authentic used HKS 272 cams. Buy a new set of ARP Head studs and use the remaining funds to have the car tuned.

If its an VIII you can always go with Brian Crower cams, they are priced very well and I know someone who runs them and he likes them a lot.

I think they are under $400 new for a set of 272's?

dont get the hks cams, they are old tech, check out the review on the evom car, they switched from the hks 272's to the gsc s1's and the s1's are much better. get a new set of gsc s1's

also i wouldnt get the headstuds unless you are pulling the head because the 1x1 method causes more problems than you would have with stock head studs.

Personally, I will get rid of the Injen Intake and get a HKS Racing Suction Kit Reloaded. Next I will get Cams. I have a whole line of cams: Gsc, Comp Cams, Buddy Club, Hks, and Brian Crower for the Evos. Just let me know. I can get you everything you need for that car to run perfect.
