Would plumbing the external dump pipe back into the downpipe defeat the performance purpose of this modification? I'm sure others like me would prefer to keep the noise level down and still get the benefits of the obvious performance gain if possible.

Yes and no. Currently in a normal 02 housing that is not dumped, whether it be stock or Ebay, the wastegate exhaust is being dumped in a turbulent spot, inches after the turbine's exhaust. Re-routing it so it would dump it further down could help, but the most gains will be seen by having it dump to the atmosphere.

I dont think you realize how loud your car already is at full throttle with a 3" exhaust. The extra noise this provides isnt earth shattering and it only makes the noise at WOT. I have bunch of vids of my car racing and stuff with the dump

If you happen to run a test pipeinstead of a cat, you could merge a long dump tube back into the exhaust at that point. Otherwise you´d have to merge it into the DP itself, somewhere along the line, and clearance might be an issue.

That is just getting ridiculous though. It only makes sense to really dump it to the atmosphere. Clearance issues are a problem. Hell, its a problem snaking the dump tube! Its not like on the DSMs where you have room to play with - its very tight in that area. Mine is snaked with around 4 bends. It sounds incredible BTW.

I have the 20G-LT (FP Green). I do not have a dyno as when I went, my LICP blew off before we could finish. I did make a 442whp/441wtq but tuning was not finished. My car made that power overheating/on fire and it was 87-90* in there. The dyno place I went to had the same fan size as I have in my room. Worthless.

Yeah, I agree that it would be retardo. The best way, is the way that you´ve done it(Dump to atmosphere). I just wanted to point out the plumbing difficulty. If someone is worried about low decible count, then dump tubes just aren´t for them, anyway. In fact, I like your idea and I just may give it a try myself. FTW!

Wow, impressive numbers for just partial tune on a crappy day! Is that on pump/meth or race gas?

I've always wondered if using a external dump would benefit a car with a stock exhaust.

It was on 93-octane and methanol. Boost was 29psi for the run. Right now its at 30psi. I drive the car everyday like that. Man.. its fun!
