here is a good one, lets see if anyone can help me figure this out solved

i have a 2001 evolution 7, with bolt on mods. i have cams intake, exhaust (o2 housing - tip) intercooler piping and reflash. now here are the problems i am experiencing.

1) my revs hang and some times climb in between shifts
2) when i dyno we get alot of knock on some runs and very little to none and other runs ( same maps)
3) most annoying is i will be driving and i shift from 1st to 2nd and pull hard on 3rd then my bov will release at full throttle and it feels like i hit a wall.

checked for vacuum leaks we checked the and changed the plugs and the coils and my engines is good checked all the bearings ect. please help

i would suggest a boost leak test for the rpm hang and climbing. also try cleaning the throttle body sometimes it can build up carbon around where the plate seats and get jammed up on it. if none ot that works check the idle air control motor that can cause it also along with the tightness of the throttle cable.

You might check for pre-turbo exhaust leaks such as those that result from a cracked header, cracked turbine housing, faulty gasket seal between head/manifold, manifold/turbine housing or loose EGT thermocouple bung in manifold. This type of exhaust leak wll usually cause high knock counts from 3500 RPM on up.

Check for boost/vaccuum leaks. Make sure that your BOV is not venting to the atmosphere (make sure its recirculated back into the intake pipe!). Do you hear any leaks at idle (any hissing noises)?

we have done extensive testing. tomorrow i am just gonna change all my vacuum lines just to make sure and yes i am recirculating. but the problem just wonnt go away. let me ask what you guys think the guys at my shop think that the source of all my problems is a faulty knock sensor. they say that the reason my bov releases at WOT is because the ecu picks up too much knock and drastically pulls timing and that causes the bov to release. what do you think?

"then my bov will release at full throttle and it feels like i hit a wall. "

this is what it seemed like.... from my basic understanding of egr....
it was dumping pressure into wherever it magically goes....

i could hear a loud psssshhhhhh sound, sounded like a bov, but not the normal sound the car made in between shifts. it wasnt the actual bov opening

did you enjoy the most uneducated response ever?

the car was almost lemoned because of this issue, mitsu couldnt find it either
they tried blaming my boost gauge i added

seem we might have found my problem, this issue started after my actuator was preloaded all the way, yet my boost was only reading 18psi. to day we found that my FPR was damaged and i was having a major leak. we changed it nand now my boost is reading 30psi, which explains why my bov is releasing. so tomorrow i will release some of the preload on the actuator and let you guys know how it turns out, by the way since i changed the fpr the rev hanging has decreased

problem solved

hey my problems is solved. all of them
the FPR was bad, it had a crack in onne of the nipples, this was causing me to have bad fuel delivery and wrong boost readings. after fixing this issue i foudn my car was actually producing 35psi thus the reason for my BOV releasing, also the rev hanging was fixed completely when i changed the FPR.

I just had the same problem! make sure all the lines going to your egr valve are connected
