flywheel
I aksed the same Q. But could never get an answer on the resurface. The O.E. flywheel from what I understand is a great unit. I had it resurfaced on my last evo it woked just fine. I need to get a resurface on a spare flywheel B4 my next clutch. If you find specs for material take off let me know. Thanks
Resurfacing the stock flywheel when done properly is pretty safe on the EVO since it is not made of grey iron like most OE flywheels. This means that it is not prone to catatrophic failure. Just make sure it is not too warped to begin with. When you put a straight edge on the flywheel surface and can get more than a .030" feeler gauge between the straight edge and the centermost area of the disc suface, then it is pretty bad. Also make sure that the flywheel gets rebalanced when it gets resurfaced.
(Warning: shameless plug to follow) If that is too much trouble, buy yourself an ACT unit (two weights to choose from) and be done with it... (end shameless plug).

if you install a twin/a 4 or 6 puck clutch and a resurface on the flywheel chances are it will whine like crazy when you engage and disengage the clutch...if you do a twin/4 or 6 puck id upgrade the flywheel, i know 3 guys where i live who have done this and its sounds terrible
