Brian Crower 280 cams require springs?
can someone explain why these brian crower cams require aftermarket valve springs?
Race Specification
Longer duration profile, added rpm potential. Intended for fully built engine. Tuning and ECU mods recommended. Requires kit BC0100. BC0112
106° 280°/280° 218°/216° .425"/.408" 10.80/10.36 BC0100
the lift looks similar to other aftermarket cams that dont require high lift springs
any insight would be apreciated,
TIA

We'd really need good ramp data and be able to compare the ramps of the BC to HKS graphically to see if the BC ramp rate is significantly more aggressive at some point along the curve. Nevertheless, upgrading the springs is not a bad insurance policy, and will improve power if there's any tendency to get valvetrain deflection as the factory springs wear from use.

They say its required but the lift on the cams were not all that high. I got mine cuz its cheap insurance and even with springs and retainers its cheaper than some of the other cams out there.
i was told by brian crower that there needed, im running these cams for my evo 9 but will be taking them out soon for some kelfords, i ran the bc 272 an now the 280. im going to be selling these cams if anybody is interested for 250 obo
