Unhappy problems... :-(

alright, fellas help me out, i know most of u are knowledgeable, please... i think my clutch is beginning to slip because when i hammer it, it boost and if its at night and its nice, it'll hold at about 17 psi (btw im mostly stock, injen intake, ams licp, tanabe turbo back, stock boost, stock ecu/flash) and the car will move but it doesnt accelerate as fast. i let a couple people drive it and they deff think its the clutch. i have to replace it anyways so im going to do so in about 2 weeks with the clutch masters stage 4 (6 puck) and fidanza flywheel. i was pretty confident about that being the problem and changing the clutch/flywheel and all drive train fluids and spark plugs will basicly fix the problem. THEN i started thinking what if my piston rings are starting to slowly leak? or am i over reacting there? i have an evo ix mr with 34K miles... alot i know but i love my car and i drive her every where.but seriously, what do u guys think / recommend? after i change the clutch and everything, i was thinking about doing a compression leak down test?

if you dont have smoke you pistons are fine....if your paranoid...do a compression test/leakdown test on the cylinders. I have an exedy flywheel and comp clutch 6 puck ceramic with an exedy pressure late. The clutch is an on/off switch its either fully engaged or not at all...its a pain to drive in traffic and shakes on every take off from the light... enjoy... i do

most likely a more blueish color smoke indicating your burning oil. good luck

it only goes to 17psi? in what gear? does it smell like burnt clutch after you drive it hard? if it does then it's the clutch. if it doesnt then i would suggest checking a few other things... like for one make sure you don't have a boost leak, or a leaking BOV. also check your boost silinoid, or wastgate actuator. you should see 21PSI or more.

no, well, stock boost should be right around 20ish... also i know that silonoid dont really hold boost and it tends to drop, but it would make sense if i did have a boost leak?
