Engine Management Suggestions....Anyone With Experience Please Look

I was wondering which engine management system everyone used. So far I've seen people with Apex'I Super AFC 2s and I wondering what other systems are being used. It'll be great if you guys could tell me about your experience with the engine management systems you have.

I was thinking about getting either one of the following systems. Which one do you guys think I should get??
1) GReddy E-Manage
2) Vishnu XEDE
3) HKS F-Con
5) AEM EMS
4) Apex'I Super AFC 2

What are your tuning goals? Do you plan to tune the car yourself or with a tuner? If it's with a tuner, you may want to see what they are comfortable with as you won't want them to have to learn the system while they are tuning your Evo.

Which way would you say is better? taking the time to learn to tune yourself or spending the $$ to have some one else do it?

For me i dont have huge amounts of cash to spare,, would like to get the most mods outta my budget as i can. but i dont want to screw anything up either

Know your end goals before you even think about picking engine management.

My goal would be to reach at least 375hp at the crank with the stock turbo, intercooler, boost and no nitrous. I'm planning to take the Evo 8 to AMS for the engine management tuning process but I'd also like to learn to do it myself.

My planned mods:
Monster Sport Downpipe
JIC Titanium Exhaust
Vishnu High Flow Cat
Ralliart Intercooler Pipe Kit
Ralliart Intake Pipe
Blitz SUS Filter
Forge Motorsports Recirc BOV
Vivid Racing Header (if they release it otherwise it's JIC or HKS)
PWR Radiator
Samco Radiator Hose Kit
Ralliart Spark Plug Cables
Denso Iridium Spark Plugs
Tomei Cam Gears
Blitz 660cc Injectors
Walbro Fuel Pump
JUN 2.2L Stroker Kit -------> don't really know yet but it could happen

I just basically want to increase throttle response and keep it street/emissions leagal. I also want room left for a slightly larger than stock turbo upgrade when it becomes available.

If you're going to go to AMS, I would recommend discussing parts they recommend and letting them build the car to accomplish what you want out of it. You could either go with a package setup from AMS or you could piece parts together little by little. Try searching the forums and see what a few members have accomplished through AMS and various parts. Most have met or exceeded the 375hp output you're looking for.

Also, 2.2 stroker kit is a bit too much for just 375hp.

Too much is never enough What engine management system should I consider then? I was think about the GReddy E-Manage or Vishnu XEDE. Also what are your opinions on the HKS F-Con? Seems like every tuner in Japan has a HKS F-Cons system in their cars and their customers' cars.

E-Manage or XEDE would probably work best for your needs, but you should talk to AMS as they'll be the ones tuning it. The one they prefer will net you the best results as they'll know the ins and outs of tuning w/ it.

The "every other car" that you see from Japan; I assume you mean the shop cars in the magazines? They are using the F-Con V PRO (not the F-Con) which is very difficult to get or support in the USA.
