Thumbs down Buddy Club Camshaft Failure

I've had the Buddy Club 264 in/ex cams installed for about two years. Recently I started hearing a noise, like lifter tapping, but not quite. Then I started to loose power around 4000 rpm. I was thinking collapsed lifter(s), so I bought some Top Line lifters and when I went to install them I found the intake cam had a casting defect that had worn through one of the number four lobes. My guess is that the engine management system detected this vibration and treated it as knock and started pulling timing. I am very glad I got in there and took that cam out before it got any worse. Needless to say I'm going with another brand next time.

Probably mean GSC? Anywho, S1 or S2 cams are perfect for most applications, with good power.

They are indeed Buddy Club cams, purchased from GSC in August of 2005. They had black paint on the lobes and journals when they were new. I don't know why this cam wore the way it did. I don't have enough experience with camshaft replacement to venture a good guess, it just seems odd.

That doesn't look like a cam failure...

Looks like an air bubble when the cam was first cast,

over time there was some minor wear on the love and it broke through exposing the air bubble.

Thats why you want to go with a billet core and not a re-ground or cast.
