Cosworth 272 Cam Idle Rise and Fall

I've had these cams in for about 3 weeks...great mod/power--I'm running 350 whp. However, I've been searching EVOM for solutions to an idle "problem." My idle has that familiar low tumble (loopy) when it's hoovering at about 950...that's fine but the idle continues to rise to about 1100+ and fall to 700-650 (almost feels like it could stall) intermittently if I'm just sitting.

I'm come across some threads on the topic of cams/idle but not something which addresses this rise/fall situation. I'm not an expert w/ECUflash, but if someone can suggest an adjustment that might help prevent the rise/fall of my idle, I'd appreciate it.

You'll see from the snapshot that the RPM neutral and drive parameters have been adjusted quite significantly from stock but no adustments to the desired ISCV initial step position settings. I have changed the value of the RPM neutral and drive parameters from 1039 to lower increments down to 1000--that does effect the rise and fall by increasing the interval between when it happens...there only seems to be a slight reduction in the rise/fall thing itself.

im having this same issue. tried to tune it out a little but to no avail, will fall from idle at about 900 rpm down to 500 where the car feels like its going to die.

I thought somehow i might be a tooth off on my cam gear but now that i see someone else is having the same issue i am doubting that.

If someone wouldn't have turned the cams when we had the tensioner tool in there and skipped a tooth!! Just leave it alone it sounds cool!!!

J/K, we will figure it out, IF YOU CAME TO THE DYNO DAY TOMORROW WE COULD FIX IT!!!

I will ask my buddy there to see what he does for Cosi's and their infamous idling issues. If anyone would know he would.....or at least have an idea on how to fix it.

Mine do it too( but not all the time). Try raising your idle on you throttle body.

I don't think all of us are having MAF problems after just installing the cams...

my idle falls to about 600 rpms and leans way out 17:1+, then picks back up to about 13:1 at around 1000rpm and will sit there for a minute, then drop back to 600rpms again about to die and shaking the car. sucks pretty bad.

Is this "problem" only for the IX or is this an issue on the VIII too?

I would try that. 350z have the same problems when we install cams. We fix it by raising the idle speed.
