Nisei or ETS Intercooler...?

Im trying to decide between the two for my IX MR? This is my last engine mod for my evo and im trying to make the right decision right off the bat. I have all the supporting mods to be close to 400 whp i hope. I have stock turbo, cosi cams, along with TBE and the normal other bolt ons for the evo. I have no plans for a turbo kit, or any other power mods.

My main question is do i want ETS 3", 3.5" or Nisei at 3.7" for my stock turbo set up? (IX turbo with cams)

I want a IC that will optimize my set up.

I have narrowed my choice down to the two... Nisei or ETS ...what do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for everyones help.

With the HP level your after, the ETS 3" should be more then enough....especially the price tag.

Please don't spread incorrect news, I have the Nisei Comp. Intercooler and my car didn't suffer any loss of spool or boost drop. The Nisei is by far one of the best intercoolers on the market, going by quality, performance and fitment.

My buddy had the Neisi Core on his Stock tubed Evo8 , The spool was the same.

Please dont post "myths" about what you might have heard. Only hard Data , or first hand experance's. That will make "Evilevo's" desion a little easyer. I personally like the Niesi because they have backed up there product with testing that proves its amazing , and have been around a little bit longer then the ets. Both are good products though. I have never heard bad things about either.

I have always moded my car with the motto "cheap, fast, and reliable...pick 2" I dont mind droping the cash to optimize my setup.

Don't say no one has ever had an issue with spool on Nisei intercooler with stock turbo. That's Bs!!!!!!

Posted by "fromWRXtoEvo" from Tucson AZ.

I tried the street Nisei IC version before and it wasn't my cup of tea. I must admit that the customer service from Nisei was excellent, the engineer that builds them and put them together spare a lot of time with me over the phone explaining me the entire proces etc etc.

I was also offered to be one of the first customers to try the racing core, in fact they told me to send them the old one and pay the difference for the racing core.

I did take my car to the track before and after and I also took my car to the dyno before and after. I even tuned the car again after the installation of the Nisei IC.

Despite all the great quality that this IC displays it hurt my spool up significantly. The dyno showed a slower spool up, Als laptop also showed slower spool up and I noticed slower spool up.

I have basicly all the mods you can bolt on before you jump into a turbokit. I never ran faster at the track. I ran 12.2s over and over at the Nopi event just the same as I did on stock IC.

The spool up issue bothered me soo much that I removed the Nisei IC a few days after i bought it and I compared to the stock IC . The moment that I put the stock IC it was like night to day,the first thing I got was the peak boost peaking to 31psi instantly.

It was my choice to keep the stock IC on because the spool up was 10 times better with the stock core. Dyno numbers showed a increment of 3-8 whp with the addition of Nisei IC, DC sport header, methanol and retune.

I still want to give Nisei guys a second and last try. I am very conservative since I am still runing stock turbo however if I can make an arrangement with Nisei guys to pay them in full for a race core IC and if I am not satisfy I would send it back to them. More to come on that until then please keep us posted on dynos or track times.

I have the big question about that intercooler, if the street series was laggy on my car with 2.5: inlet/outlet, how laggy would the race version be with the 3" inlet/outlet and bigger core. Real testing will tell

Carlos

you cant claim something the best till you tried all, it simple common sense. now since you dont have money an time flowing out your ****, im 100% positive you havnt tried ALL the IC's for the evo.

now with that being said, both are great intercoolers, from reviews an companies as a whole

but im on my 4th IC overall ( 2 different cars, 4 diff set ups )

ive used AMS, buscher nesei, an ETS, now ME personally, BEST bang for the buck ISSSSSS the ETS, tom is a AWESOME guy to deal with, an the intercooler is top notch for the price. now im not bashing the other IC's whereas they did what they were supposed to do, just as good as the ETS. but when modding, much less modding an evo....money saved is money saved!!!
