Cosworth cam install questions

Hello.

im going to be installing cosworth 272s soon. I am a bit confused because i have seen both yes and no to this question on various threads throughout this site. But do i or do i not need to get cam gears for this install on my Evo IX? What am i sacrificing as far as power goes by not getting cam gears if i dont need them?

Also

When doing the install, what are they refering to as far as "lube" when they mention it in the DIY guide on Evomoto? Engine oil? Is there anywhere that i should not specifically lube when doing the install? If not, im going to dip that sucker haha.

They also mention needing sealant. What sealant do you recommend for this install? Thanks

You do NOT need cam gears, nor will the intake cam gear fit if you were to purchase one.

You can use engine oil as lube. Clean the camshaft then lightly lubricate the entire camshaft with engine oil.

The sealant will be used to seal the cam angle sensor housings and the valve cover. You can use orange high temp silicone sealant.

Differences when installing IX cams using the VIII guide:

The intake cam also has a cam angle sensor.
You will need a large hex key to remove a cover on the intake cam gear. I can't remember the size off hand. It took me by surprise and all I had that remotely fit was a large torques bit. The cap was not torqued tightly when I removed it.

Other than that it is all the same.

Well, son of a b...., can't edit my post for some reason, but the other answer is: Orange High Temp Silicone Sealant.
